Present in Hanoi at the announcement ceremony of the Dalat spring concert international music project taking place at 7:30 p.m. on December 21 at Lam Vien Square, Da Lat City, Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai assessed that 2024 marks an important turning point with the launch of the Dalat spring concert project - one of the events to fulfill UNESCO's commitment to recognize Da Lat as a creative city in the field of music.
“This is a special art event held annually. For the first time, world music legends will gather and perform in Da Lat. This is an opportunity to realize the goal of making Da Lat a destination for world music peaks, a city of healing through music,” said Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai.

Ms. Tran Thi Vu Loan - Vice Chairwoman of Da Lat City People's Committee - shared that when UNESCO recognized Da Lat as a creative music city, Da Lat city leaders coordinated and accompanied the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and other units to carry out many international programs and artist exchange programs in Da Lat.
“Music legends like Boney M. Liz Mitchell, Joy and Samantha Fox are an indispensable part of the musical memories of the 6X and 7X generations. This is an opportunity for Da Lat to introduce the city to international friends. Hopefully, the music night will be a good start to spread international-class music events to Da Lat, and the beginning of annual international music events,” said Ms. Tran Thi Vu Loan.

Producer Nguyen Thuy Duong pointed out the difference in the Dalat spring concert program. Legendaries such as Modern Talking, Boney M or Kenny G who have come to Vietnam mostly performed indoors, this time the artists performed at the iconic square of Dalat - Lam Vien Square.
“International standards are reflected in the artists’ requirements for sound and lighting equipment. For this outdoor program, we have to prepare three independent sound systems that meet the requirements of three performing artist groups, meeting the sound standards for outdoor performances,” Mr. Duong shared.
Starting with a concert of disco and pop legends of the last century, according to Mr. Tran Thanh Hoai, because the 6X and 7X generations have many successful people. “They often bring their children and grandchildren to Da Lat. Young people are now willing to spend more on concerts, but we believe that organizing classical music or Trinh music nights will still be popular with Gen Z,” he said.

Dalat spring concert is a connection for Dalat to have a creative music space of international standards. Ms. Tran Thi Vu Loan said that Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has supported the city a lot, including funding for Dalat to organize large-scale music programs. When joining the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Dalat commits to participating in the series of activities in the next 3-5 years.
The leader of the Da Lat City People's Committee said that for music nights like this, with 15,000 seats, Lam Vien Square is packed with about 20,000-25,000 visitors. However, this is the first time an international band has come to Da Lat, so the organizers are not selling tickets as a way to show their gratitude to the people and visitors.
