According to initial information, at around 4:30 p.m. on January 12, Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh (32 years old, residing in Can Giuoc district, Long An) was driving a sampan carrying his daughter on the Go Da river (Thanh An commune, Can Gio district). When reaching the intersection of Thi Vai river and Go Da river (Thanh An commune), big waves overturned the sampan, causing Mr. Khanh and his daughter to fall into the river.
Mr. Khanh's daughter was taken by border guards to another boat to shore.
At this time, the inspection and supervision working group on the river belonging to the Border Guard of Ho Chi Minh City port including Mr. Phan Van Tam, Tran Van Tung and Nguyen Huy Me discovered the incident and immediately rushed to rescue Mr. Khanh and his daughter.
Mr. Khanh said that this afternoon, while he and his daughter were on a boat going to a fish raft, they unfortunately had an accident and were rescued by border guards in time.
Previously, in Ha Tinh province, people and authorities also saved the lives of two people whose boat capsized at night.
Specifically, at around 7:30 p.m. on September 26, 2023, Mr. VVT (49 years old, residing in Pho Cuong village) and NVTr. (49 years old, residing in Pho Thinh village, Gia Pho commune) rowed a boat along the village area near Cho Van bridge to catch birds.
At this time, the water flow from upstream was so strong that it caused the boat to capsize. Mr. Tr. was able to hold onto a tree branch, while Mr. T. was swept away by the water to village 1, Huong Thuy commune, about 100m.
Hearing the cry for help, some people in Huong Thuy commune rowed a boat out to rescue Mr. T. and brought him safely to shore.
At around 8:15 p.m. the same day, authorities and local people used boats to rescue Mr. Tr. and brought him safely to shore.
