With many integrated resources, Nam Giang mountainous district, Quang Nam province has more favorable conditions to successfully implement new rural construction, notably the district has 2 communes meeting new rural standards and 2 villages meeting model standards.
New rural resources effectively promoted
As a commune bordering Dac Chung district (Sekong province, Laos), La Dee has 468 households with more than 1,700 people, mainly Co Tu, Ve, Ta Rieng ethnic groups. Over the past years, by focusing on mobilizing human and financial resources and flexibly integrating resources, this border locality has soon completed the goal of meeting new rural standards.

Mr. Brao Nguu - Chairman of La De Commune People's Committee said that from clearly identifying the opportunities and difficulties specific to the border area, in recent times, the Party Committee and the Commune People's Committee have focused on providing many drastic solutions, suitable to the conditions of the mountainous locality, helping the work of building new rural areas (NTM) achieve positive results.
According to Mr. Brao Ngu, in order to create a stable source of income for the people, in addition to promoting production linkages according to the supply value chain, the commune government supports the development and promotion of product brands to help form the La Dee Agricultural Cooperative. After nearly 3 years of operation, the cooperative has nearly 20 members, with the main agricultural product being dried bamboo shoots meeting 3-star OCOP standards.

"The model of growing bamboo shoots, bananas, concentrated livestock farming and building rural infrastructure have been priorities of La De commune for many years. With the determination and efforts of the Party committees and authorities at all levels, by the end of 2024, the entire commune will complete the criteria according to regulations and reach the new rural destination," Mr. Brao Nguu shared.

According to Mr. Brao Sang, a resident of Cong To Ron village (La Dee commune), the locality’s advantage is that it has many products, especially typical agricultural products of the mountainous region. However, it is very difficult to choose products that meet OCOP quality.
"After consideration and selection, the cooperative members decided to choose dried bamboo shoots to build a brand, with the desire to bring the region's products to a large number of consumers, contributing to increasing income for the community," said Mr. Brao Sang.
Focused investment
Implementing the National Target Program on New Rural Construction, in the past term, the Party Committee of Nam Giang district set a goal that by 2025, three communes of Ta Bhing, La Dee and Dac Toi will meet the New Rural Standards; the remaining communes will meet 15 criteria or more.

Along with that, the locality builds a plan to integrate resources from the National Target Programs on sustainable poverty reduction; socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas to complete infrastructure, creating stable livelihoods for people.
Clearly identifying that building a new rural area is a continuous process with a roadmap suitable to local conditions and resources, in recent years, all levels and sectors of Nam Giang district have mobilized State investment capital to prioritize completing infrastructure.
At the same time, many programs and projects are integrated to develop agricultural production and trade; transfer cultivation techniques, convert crops and livestock, and replicate production models in the form of linking household groups and cooperatives to effectively promote resources.

Thanks to that, up to now, Nam Giang has formed 25 value chain linkage models associated with the consumption of agricultural products; concentrated livestock raising of cattle, local pigs and spotted deer, with 6 products recognized as meeting OCOP standards...
Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong - Vice Chairman of Nam Giang District People's Committee said that determining the construction of new rural areas as an important task, from the beginning of 2024, the District Party Committee issued a resolution and the District People's Committee issued a thematic plan on building new rural areas.
In which, the goal is to integrate capital sources from national target programs and career capital sources in the direction of prioritizing capital sources to implement poverty reduction programs.

After the implementation period, up to now, the whole Nam Giang district has achieved 177 criteria for building new rural areas, an average of 16.10 criteria/commune. Through appraisal, there are 2 villages meeting the model new rural standards and 2 communes meeting the new rural standards including Ta Bhing and La Dee; this is a commendable result after the efforts of the locality.
"Building on the results achieved, in the coming time, we will continue to focus on prioritizing resources so that Dac Toi commune can complete the NTM criteria and the remaining communes can achieve 16 criteria or more. In particular, we will pay special attention to the economic development targets, improving income and living standards for people in mountainous areas in the district," said Mr. Chuong.
