On November 23, information that Ho Chi Minh City Club owed 30 billion VND in salaries, bonuses, and kickbacks to team members was posted in the media.

Specifically, the open letter in the names of 24 players and assistants was said to have been sent to the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), Ho Chi Minh City Football Federation (HFF), Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) and Ho Chi Minh City Football Joint Stock Company, mentioning the issue of the team not paying salaries, bonuses, and signing bonuses on time, although late, but without explanation or plan, roadmap for paying the above fees.

The letter also clearly stated the figures that Ho Chi Minh City Club owes to players and coaching staff, including late payment of the signing fee for phase one, and owing 50% of the signing fee for phase two of the 2023 season.

Regarding the signing-on fee for the current 2023-2024 season, after the players and coaching staff spoke up, the club was only able to pay 25% on November 15. In addition, the letter also raised the issue that Ho Chi Minh City Club still owed bonuses for two consecutive seasons.

However, sharing with Thanh Nien , the leader of Ho Chi Minh City Club confirmed that the above information is completely untrue.

On the evening of November 24, the Thong Nhat Stadium team posted an open letter with the following content: "In the face of inaccurate information affecting the image of the club, we will fight to the end to preserve the image of the team that the people of the city always love. We affirm that the information coming from some members of the coaching staff and players is not enough basis, without authentic verification.

Through this, we will take measures against the players and coaching staff who must be responsible to the club and the company for this issue. The company's legal department is implementing the necessary legal steps to handle the matter."

According to Ho Chi Minh City Club, the team's leadership had a specific discussion with team members on the morning of November 24 to clarify issues regarding costs based on the law, respect and common dedication to Ho Chi Minh City football.

"Up to now, all support costs (signing fees, other fees) for the first leg of the 2023-2024 season and salaries have been fully paid to team members," the team stated.

Ho Chi Minh City FC is currently in the middle of the V-League rankings with 4 points after 3 matches. The team nicknamed "Red Battleship" won against Khanh Hoa FC, drew with Quang Nam FC and lost to Nam Dinh FC.

This is an acceptable start for Ho Chi Minh City FC. In the last 2 seasons, Ho Chi Minh City FC had to compete to avoid relegation until the final rounds.
