On this occasion, Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Sao Mai gave an interview to Vietnamese press agencies stationed in China about issues surrounding the working trip.
Assessing the purpose and significance of President Vo Van Thuong's working trip, Ambassador Pham Sao Mai said that this was the first working trip to China by comrade Vo Van Thuong as President and the third time a senior Vietnamese leader attended the BRI High-Level Forum organized by China, continuing the regular exchanges and contacts between senior leaders of the two Parties and two countries in recent times.
In the context of 2023 being the 15th anniversary of the Vietnam-China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the 10th anniversary of the formation and development of the BRI, President Vo Van Thuong's visit to China this time is of great significance, demonstrating the high regard and top priority of our Party and State in developing relations with China, as well as demonstrating the welcome and appreciation for connectivity initiatives, including the BRI, for the goal of peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the world.
This is an opportunity for the two countries' senior leaders to continue to discuss in depth measures to concretize high-level common perceptions, especially the historic official visit to China by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong (late October - early November 2022), promoting the Vietnam - China Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership to continue to develop stably, healthily, increasingly in-depth, substantively with higher political trust, deeper practical cooperation, a more solid social foundation, and better control of disagreements.
In the context of the complicated and unpredictable international situation and the profound changes in the world economy, the participation of President Vo Van Thuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation in the 3rd BRI High-Level Forum is a practical activity to consistently implement the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness, active and comprehensive international integration, in-depth, flexible and effective, conveying the message of Vietnam as a friend, reliable partner and an active and responsible member of the international community, actively contributing to peace, stability, development and cooperation in the region and the world.
Regarding the key contents of this BRI International Cooperation Summit and the expected contributions of the Vietnamese high-level delegation at the forum, Ambassador Pham Sao Mai said that with the theme "High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation, joining hands for common development and prosperity", the 3rd BRI International Cooperation Summit will focus on discussing and summarizing the BRI achievements over the past 10 years, exchanging prospects and directions for future cooperation.
The Forum includes 3 High-level Sessions with key contents on “Digital Economy as a New Driver of Growth”, “Connectivity in an Open Global Economy”, “Green Silk Road for Harmony with Nature” and 6 other forums on trade connectivity, people-to-people exchange, clean silk road, local cooperation, cooperation between research institutions and maritime cooperation.
The President's attendance and important speeches at the 3rd BRI High-Level Forum with the participation of senior leaders of many countries and delegates, business communities from about 140 countries and international organizations, will contribute Vietnam's voice in promoting peace, cooperation, economic linkages and regional connectivity, deepening relations with countries around the world, contributing to promoting regional and global economic growth, and effectively implementing the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
At the same time, this is also an opportunity to promote socio-economic development achievements, share major messages about Vietnam's development goals, perspectives and orientations, effectively attract international resources to serve socio-economic development goals, especially green transformation, digital transformation, inclusive growth and people-centeredness, contributing to enhancing the country's role and position in the international arena.
