The Government has proposed and the Central Government and the National Assembly have agreed on the GDP growth target of 8% or more in 2025 and reaching double digits in the following years.

This is a big challenge but also an urgent requirement for Vietnam to escape the middle-income trap and become a high-income country by 2045.

According to the Prime Minister, to achieve this goal, the entire political system, business community and people nationwide need to join hands, be unanimous, and resolutely implement economic solutions.

The history of successful economies around the world shows that maintaining high growth rates for decades is a prerequisite for achieving prosperity. Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore and Taiwan all had impressive growth periods lasting three to four decades.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has maintained a growth rate of about 6.4% per year for nearly 40 years. If this rate continues, the 100-year target will be very difficult to achieve. Therefore, a strong breakthrough is needed for the economy to accelerate and rise to the group of high-income countries.

The Prime Minister requested that all ministries, sectors, localities and economic sectors must grow at over 8%, instead of relying on just a few sectors or localities to drive the economy forward. In addition, growth must go hand in hand with macroeconomic stability, inflation control, social security and environmental protection. Sacrificing these factors to pursue growth alone is unsustainable.

The Prime Minister requested ministries, sectors and localities to act decisively, work with focus and key points, and take advantage of every opportunity to promote growth. “With such a goal, we must strive to achieve it. We must be highly determined, make great efforts, and complete each task and each task in a proper manner,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
