Thirty minutes after eating shrimp, the patient had abdominal cramps, followed by a red rash and itching all over his body. Hearing an acquaintance's "tip" to cure allergies by burning shrimp shells to ashes and drinking them, the patient vomited violently.

Recently, Hung Vuong General Hospital received a 17-year-old female patient with a critical anaphylactic reaction to shrimp.

When brought to the emergency room at night, the patient had a red rash all over his body, difficulty breathing, slow response to calls, fast, weak pulse, intermittent abdominal pain, and unmeasurable blood pressure.

Immediately after determining that the patient was in critical anaphylactic shock from shrimp, the doctor applied anaphylactic emergency treatment and injected adrenaline intramuscularly, but the patient's condition did not improve. Next, the patient was given continuous intravenous infusion before gradually stabilizing.

The patient's family said that the patient had a history of allergies to shrimp (shrimp), crab, and peanuts. Therefore, the patient thought that eating shrimp was okay so he tried it. After 30 minutes of eating shrimp, the patient experienced symptoms of abdominal cramps.

2 hours later, the patient's whole body had a red rash, itchy bumps, and was given anti-allergy medication by his family, but the symptoms did not improve.

Four hours after eating the shrimp, the patient continued to have stomach pain, vomited and had two loose stools. However, instead of taking her to the hospital, an acquaintance told her to burn the shrimp shells to ashes and drink it to treat the allergy. Her family followed suit and gave it to her.

Immediately after drinking shrimp shell ash, the patient vomited violently, gradually fainted, had difficulty responding to calls and questions... the family rushed him to the emergency room.

After 3 days of treatment, the patient fully recovered and was discharged from the hospital to return home.

Doctors recommend that people with a history of food allergies should be careful when eating and drinking, and absolutely do not eat the food that caused the allergy again. When an allergic reaction or anaphylactic shock occurs, you should quickly go to the hospital, instead of using folk remedies that are very dangerous to your life.
