On February 27, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai received the new Consuls General (TLS) of Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia and Kuwait for a courtesy visit on the occasion of their new term.
At the reception, the consuls highly appreciated the friendly relations and expressed their joy at the good cooperation achievements between the countries and Vietnam in general, and with Ho Chi Minh City in recent times. The consuls thanked the Ho Chi Minh City leaders for creating favorable conditions for the consuls to operate well in Ho Chi Minh City, and pledged that during their term, they would strive to contribute to developing good relations between the parties through promoting cooperation between the countries and Ho Chi Minh City in the fields of investment, trade, culture, education, tourism, people's diplomacy, etc.
In response, comrade Phan Van Mai affirmed that Ho Chi Minh City has many favorable conditions for further strong development and hopes that the TLS in Ho Chi Minh City will play an important role in connecting and helping to promote cooperation between countries and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City, especially in areas where the two sides have potential for cooperation.
With Malaysia, in addition to infrastructure and energy cooperation, comrade Phan Van Mai also wishes to promote cooperation in education, tourism, especially the Halal industry (providing products and services that meet standards for Muslims).
Regarding Kuwait, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai highly appreciated investment funds for technology development and innovation, expecting to create a leap forward in development between Ho Chi Minh City and Kuwait. Comrade Phan Van Mai called on Kuwaiti investors to promote educational cooperation, including increasing training courses on the Arabic language.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai also hopes to cooperate comprehensively to implement signed programs with Laos, including promoting human resource training programs. Ho Chi Minh City is ready to participate in activities on the occasion of Laos assuming the rotating ASEAN Chairmanship in 2024. With Cambodia, comrade Phan Van Mai hopes to promote the exchange of goods, construction materials, etc., especially after the Trans-Asia Expressway is completed in the near future.
Comrade Phan Van Mai thanked the TLSs for their proactive proposals to promote key tasks. Ho Chi Minh City will create conditions for the TLSs to operate well, commit to promptly resolving issues raised by the TLSs, contributing to removing difficulties, to promote bilateral relations through further cooperation in trade, investment, and tourism between the parties. Comrade Phan Van Mai wished the TLSs a successful term.
