Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung visited Chau Thang Commune Kindergarten. On September 26-27, 2023, due to heavy rains in Quy Chau district causing widespread flooding, the entire school was submerged in water more than 2.2m deep, after the water receded, the mud was 60cm deep.
Mud damaged all school records, school supplies, televisions, refrigerators, computers, classrooms, functional rooms, auxiliary works, electrical systems, fences, boarding equipment... Estimated damage is more than 2.5 billion VND.
Immediately after the flood receded, the commune government mobilized all militia, parents, police, commune-level departments and organizations, along with school officials, teachers, staff and the education sector to clean up the mud and trash. Up to now, the school has basically finished cleaning and continues to clean and dry equipment that can still be used. It is expected that early next week, the school will welcome 164 children back to school.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, comrade Nguyen Duc Trung shared the losses and damages to property and facilities of Chau Thang Kindergarten; at the same time, highly appreciated the timely intervention of the Party Committee, government and school.
In order to welcome the children back to school soon, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that the local Party Committee and authorities will focus on paying attention, supporting and helping the school overcome the damage caused by natural disasters. The school will also try to basically overcome the damage and ensure the essential conditions when the children return to school.
Next, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung visited the family of Mr. Lu Van Khuyen (71 years old, residing in Hoa Tien 1 village, Chau Tien commune). Mr. Khuyen drowned while leading his herd of buffalo back to the village to avoid the flood.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee sympathized with the family's loss, gave gifts and hoped that the family would soon overcome the pain and stabilize their lives.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung and the working delegation visited the family of Mr. Le Manh Linh (35 years old, residing in Ta Lanh village, Chau Hanh commune). During the recent flood, Mr. Linh's house had its roof and yard collapsed, and many electronic devices such as TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines were swept away by the water. The total damage to Mr. Linh's family is estimated at about 120 million VND.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung sympathized with the losses and damages suffered by Mr. Linh's family and hoped that the family would try to overcome the difficulties and soon stabilize their lives. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee presented gifts and 50 million VND to help the family rebuild their house.
