A candidate in Thai Binh had all of his results canceled and was not allowed to participate in the remaining competency assessment exams because he used documents and copied exam questions to take home.

Hanoi National University announced on the evening of May 14 that this candidate took the exam for the first time on April 8 and scored 114/150 points. Yesterday, the candidate took the exam for the second time and also scored the same, but was found to have violated the regulations.

According to regulations, this student's HSA results will be canceled. Hanoi National University has three more exams, but this candidate will not be allowed to take the exam again.

This is a high score, because out of 44,000 candidates taking the exam in the previous four rounds, only 52 students scored 110 or higher.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Testing Center, Hanoi National University, said that the test questions are confidential data. The announcement of the questions after the end of the exam is usually applied if there are 1-2 common questions, but with the competency assessment test, each candidate takes a separate question.

"If candidates are allowed to take the exam home, it is no longer called a test bank," said Mr. Thao, adding that this regulation is similar to international certification exams such as SAT, IELTS, and ACT.

Previously, the Hanoi National University Examination Center announced the score distribution of the first four rounds of exams. The average score achieved by candidates was 75.2 on a 150-point scale. Compared to the same period last year, this level decreased by 2.4 points.

The number of candidates who scored 100 points or more accounted for 4.4%. Only 5 candidates scored 120 points or more. Among them, the candidate with the highest score was Nguyen Dang Huy, grade 12, Yen Lac High School, Vinh Phuc with 129 points.

The remaining three capacity assessment exams in this year's admission season of Hanoi National University will take place in May and early June.

Currently, 74 universities and academies have said they will use the results of the Hanoi National University's competency assessment exam for admission. Many schools have announced the minimum score for this method at 75-85. Hai Duong Medical Technical University alone takes 120 points for the Medical major, and 100 for the remaining majors. The Academy of Finance also takes a minimum score of 100 but only reserves 5% of each major's quota for the competency assessment exam score method.

In 2022, universities will allocate more than 30,000 admission quotas based on scores from competency and thinking assessment exams. The admission rate by this method accounts for about 2% of the total number of candidates admitted by all methods.
