Luong Quang Dai is a young man from a poor background, belonging to the Tay ethnic community in the Northwest highlands (Vietnam). It seemed that getting married at a very young age would make life more challenging, because after getting married, sometimes the whole year he and his wife stuck to the hills and fields, unable to earn 10 million VND a month.

Chance brought this young man with a fierce appearance and gentle smile to the job of livestreaming to sell products. That was when he decided to turn processed highland agricultural products into the main products on his sales channels. Surprisingly, after only 3 months of livestreaming to sell products, he had a spectacular "life change".

After learning about livestreaming and building a channel, Mr. Dai's life turned a new page, life became stable, and he and his wife had the means to travel here and there. He confided that the amount of money he earned from livestreaming sales was a figure he had never dared to imagine in his entire life.

"In 2021, I saw many people creating TikTok accounts and posting videos about their daily lives. I thought it was interesting and started doing it for fun. My house already had a hill to grow trees and a farm, so I learned from other channels that specialized in filming the daily lives of families. Fortunately, my channel was well received by everyone," Dai shared.

In the early days of building his Tiktok channel, the father of two researched online and learned how to film, cut, and combine to create a short video. With no acting expertise, he filmed the clip, added music, and dubbed it so that people following the channel could understand the content.

"At first, no one supported me. I tied my phone to a bamboo pole to record. After filming one angle, I put the pole in another angle, recording by myself and talking to myself. At first, I just recorded my daily activities for fun, but I didn't think I would get so much support from everyone.

When the channel had many followers, I asked my wife to film with me, but she was shy. I tried to persuade her for a long time, telling her to try filming with me and that after there were many interactions, she would sell products to earn more income, so she agreed to participate," said Mr. Dai.

Since his wife joined him, the videos Dai posted have been trending regularly, with views increasing rapidly compared to when he was doing monologues. The "Dai Bac Kan" tiktok channel has gradually become familiar to netizens, now having more than 400,000 followers and many videos with millions of views.

Videos recording the couple's scenes of picking bamboo shoots in the forest and their meals at their camp gradually touched the hearts of those who love nature and life in the mountains and forests of the Northwest.

Choosing the development direction of providing Northwest specialties such as hand-cut dong vermicelli, dried bamboo shoots, liver-cooling tea, Mr. Dai's videos or livestreams are always as authentic as possible so that customers can rest assured about the origin and source of the products.

"I started livestreaming to sell agricultural products on Tiktok last June. I didn't expect that the first livestreams would attract hundreds of simultaneous views," Dai laughed.

Because they are not good at speaking, Dai and his wife only sold 60 orders in June, earning about 14 million VND. In July, they sold more than 400 orders, and in August, they sold more than 500 orders. The record was last September, when they sold more than 1,000 orders, earning about 350 million VND.

"Before, my wife and I worked hard all year but could not earn 100 million VND, but now after just 1 month of livestreaming to sell products, we earn 200-300 million VND, an amount of money we could not have dreamed of before," said Mr. Dai.

Last September, right after starting a livestream, Mr. Dai's tiktok channel reached 1,000 viewers at the same time, and several hundred orders of herbal tea were sold out after 30 minutes.

"After about half an hour of livestreaming, I had to turn off the live stream because I had no more products to sell. I stopped live streaming for 2-3 days to collect products to return to customers. When I went live again the next day, there weren't many viewers," Mr. Dai regretfully said.

Currently, during the day, Mr. Dai and his wife still go to the forest to pick bamboo shoots to earn extra income and record videos with content revolving around the lives of ethnic people in the highlands to create attraction, gain interaction, and attract followers to the channel. In the evening, he takes advantage of the time to both livestream to interact with people and sell goods.

In addition to selling homegrown agricultural products, Dai and his wife also established a cooperative to sell more agricultural products from local people.
