Kinhtedothi - Ninh Binh Province Department of Tourism has just issued Document No. 132/SDL-TTr warning about fraudulent behavior when booking tourist accommodation in the province.
Accordingly, recently, in Ninh Binh province, there has been a situation of scamming tourists when booking hotel and motel rooms via the Internet. The subjects impersonate the websites and fanpages of reputable hotels and resorts or create social network accounts to post attractive promotions and discounts to trick customers into booking rooms, requesting advance transfers and then appropriating the money.
Several serious incidents have caused significant property damage, negatively affecting the province’s tourism image. According to reports from authorities, there have been many cases of tourists being scammed out of large sums of money, causing public outrage.
In order to strengthen preventive measures, raise awareness among people and tourists, and contribute to ensuring a safe tourism environment, on February 7, 2025, the Department of Tourism of Ninh Binh province issued Document No. 132/SDL-TTr on warning about fraudulent behavior when booking tourist accommodation in Ninh Binh province.
The Department has also sent a document directing accommodation service businesses to seriously and publicly post information about prices and official booking forms on websites, official fanpages and reputable online booking platforms. Apply security measures and information authentication to help customers identify official fanpages and websites, avoiding counterfeiting.
Businesses need to proactively inform customers about common fraud methods, recommending that customers only book rooms through official channels. Coordinate with authorities to provide information about fraud cases, support tourists when incidents occur. Do not spread or take advantage of false information about fraud to attract attention. If violations are detected, authorities will consider handling them according to regulations.
