Asked what Tieu Minh Phung thought, he happily said: "I expected it. New dishes have people who can eat them and people who can't.

But I'm still very happy because I've spread cải lương through rap to young people and brought rap to older uncles and aunts who love cải lương. When foreign music comes to Vietnam, people praise it, so why can't traditional cải lương blend into rap?"

Tieu Minh Phung is from Ca Mau. He said that Cai Luong is as attached to his body as his skin and flesh. Not only does Tieu Minh Phung have a strong and sweet Cai Luong voice, he also composes Cai Luong and Tan Co songs.

He not only brought cải lương into rap but also composed the Western wedding song Xin duyên hỏi em, which incorporated cải lương into a lively and humorous atmosphere.

Phung also wrote the lyrics for a traditional song when singing with singer Hoai Son the neo-traditional song "Why are you sad, my dear" by musician Nguyen Minh Cuong.

Jokingly asked Tieu Minh Phung which one he likes more between Cai Luong and Rap? Minh Phung replied: "This depends on the audience. The audience needs me to sing Cai Luong, so I will just sing pure Cai Luong.

As for the audience asking me to rap, I rap with cải lương. I really like the lyrics composed by Uncle Chí Tâm: Wherever cải lương and vọng cổ still exist, there still exist the Vietnamese people. I understand that I cannot abandon art. Only art will abandon me."

Tieu Minh Phung said his dream of becoming an artist came true thanks to the support of many senior artists and friends in the profession.
