On February 17, Secretary of the Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Ho Hai proposed 5 connectivity contents to help Ca Mau province develop in the coming time with the working delegation of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore.
At the meeting, Singaporean Ambassador to Vietnam Jaya Ratnam affirmed that 2025 will be an important year for Singapore - Vietnam relations.
There are currently 18 Vietnam - Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in 13 provinces and cities, symbolizing the value of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
These industrial parks attracted more than 21 billion USD in foreign direct investment and supported more than 300,000 jobs.
“We have now embarked on a VSIP-like project between Sembcorp (Singapore) and PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation to develop a large offshore wind power site in southern Vietnam. The future submarine power cable from southern Vietnam to Singapore will be part of the future ASEAN power grid, enabling Vietnam to develop into a renewable energy hub supplying power to the region…”, he said.
For Ca Mau, the specific area that Singapore can cooperate with is agricultural trade, especially fruits, vegetables, and seafood, which must be certified before export. Singapore has a large seaport that can both be a receiving point for Ca Mau province's agricultural products and from here can be shipped to many countries in the region.
This suggests that Ca Mau province should quickly promote and cooperate with the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore and the Singapore Food Agency to promote local agricultural products to Singaporean importers.
Talking to the delegation, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai shared about the potentials and advantages of Ca Mau province, especially the potential for developing green energy, mangrove forests associated with carbon credits, agricultural products and projects calling for investment such as Tac Thu Industrial Park, Tan Thuan, Nam Can Economic Zone.
In particular, with the attention of the Government, Ca Mau is investing in projects such as highways and airport expansion, creating conditions to revive the potential of the land at the end of the Fatherland.
