On the afternoon of March 6, Comrade A Lun Xay Sun Na Lat - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Minister, Head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Lao PDR directly worked with the leaders of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board and VSIP Nghe An to learn about investment and development experiences of industrial parks in Nghe An province.
The delegation included Comrade Van Xay Phong Sa Van - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Secretary and Governor of Khammouane Province and leaders of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Attending the meeting were comrade Le Tien Tri - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Head of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board, leaders of a number of departments, branches and VSIP Nghe An.
At VSIP Nghe An headquarters, the Minister, Head of the Lao Prime Minister's Office and the delegation heard an introduction about the scale, investment orientation, and investment attraction results of VSIP in Nghe An.
VSIP is a model of industrial park, urban and service real estate development of the joint venture Sembcorp Group (Singapore) and Becamex IDC Corporation (Binh Duong province).
Currently, in Nghe An, VSIP has invested in an Industrial, Urban and Service Park in Hung Tay Commune, Hung Nguyen District (VSIP Nghe An I) with a total area of 750 hectares; of which, the Industrial Park has an area of 368 hectares; the Service and Urban Area has an area of 382 hectares, with a total investment capital of 279.91 million USD.
Currently, VSIP Nghe An I has attracted 44 investors, with 46 projects covering a total area of 243 ha/250.63 ha of land (97% occupancy); of which, there are 24 FDI investors. 45/46 projects have been granted investment certificates, with a total capital of 1.3 billion USD, of which more than 1.2 billion USD is FDI capital.
Investors at VSIP Nghe An I focus on the fields of electricity, electronics, precision mechanics; factories for rent and warehousing services; construction materials and interiors; garments and accessories; consumer goods and food; chemicals; auto parts... expected to create jobs for 65,000 workers.
Currently, 29 investors have come into operation, employing more than 16,000 local workers, bringing in an export value of VND 12,231 billion in 2023. 6 investors are building factories, expected to be completed and put into operation in the second quarter of 2024.
In addition, the VSIP Nghe An 2 project in Tho Loc Industrial Park, Dien Chau district, with an area of 500 hectares and a total investment of 164.6 million USD, was granted an Investment Certificate in March 2023 and is expected to be a driving force to attract investment in Nghe An. In addition, VSIP is also implementing the VSIP Nghe An expansion project, next to the existing VSIP Nghe An I Industrial Park with a total area of 220 hectares.
At the meeting, at the request of the working delegation, comrade Le Tien Tri - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board informed about the legal corridor, mechanisms, preferential policies on land and tax of the Vietnamese Government for the establishment and operation of economic zones, industrial parks, for industrial park infrastructure investors and secondary investors.
At the same time, the leaders of the Southeast Economic Zone Management Board also discussed and shared with the delegation other preferential policies of Nghe An province, such as land rental prices, infrastructure construction to the fence of the industrial park, and support for labor training for the delegation.
On behalf of the delegation, Minister and Head of the Lao Prime Minister's Office A Lun Xay Sun Na Lat highly appreciated the effectiveness of investment attraction in Nghe An, including investment attraction in VSIP Nghe An I; as well as the province's experience in attracting investment.
