Along with the whole country, 398 schools in Quang Tri joyfully held the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025. This school year, Quang Tri has 178,124 students, including 41,880 first-grade students.
In mountainous areas, many schools held opening ceremonies at the main location. From early morning, teachers, with the active support of border guards, went to remote villages to welcome students back to school.

In Huong Lap Commune, Huong Hoa District, officers and soldiers of Huong Lap Border Guard Station divided into many groups, crossed mountain passes and waded through streams to pick up students. Some students were taken to school by border guards on motorbikes, while others were carried on foot by soldiers across flooded streams.
"We split into many groups, some using motorbikes to pick up and drop off students, some staying at Ta Leng stream to carry students from Cu Bai and Ta Pang villages (Huong Lap commune) across the stream to school, ensuring the safety of the students," said Major Pham Ngoc Toan, Acting Chief of Huong Lap Commune Border Guard Station.
Sharing the joyful atmosphere of the new school year, Huong Lap Border Guard Station donated 1 television to Huong Lap Primary and Secondary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities; many gifts to the border guard station's adopted children; 15 cartons of milk to students of Huong Lap Commune Kindergarten.
To prepare for the opening ceremony and the new school year, the education sector of Quang Tri province has also actively implemented many solutions to mobilize students to go to school, especially in mountainous and disadvantaged areas.

At A Xing Primary and Secondary School, Huong Hoa district, Mr. Nguyen Mai Trong, the school principal, said that the opening ceremony took place briefly but solemnly with the participation of more than 620 students.
"Before the new school year, teachers from the school went to villages to encourage students to go to school. Many students woke up at 5am to prepare and walked 7km through the forest to go to the opening ceremony. Some students who lived far away were picked up by teachers," said Mr. Trong.
In Con Co island district, Quang Tri province, the opening ceremony also took place in a joyful atmosphere. Con Co island district currently has 1 kindergarten class with 9 children and 1 primary school class with 5 students, of which 3 students are being sponsored by Dan Tri newspaper until the end of primary school.
Teacher Le Thi Thuy Linh, in charge of Hoa Phong Ba Kindergarten - Primary School, Con Co island district, said that due to the geographical conditions of being 18 nautical miles from the mainland, life for the islanders and teachers and students is still difficult. Currently, Con Co has a service boat but the schedule is not fixed, depending a lot on the weather and the number of people traveling.

According to Ms. Linh, despite the small number of students, the opening ceremony on the island at the forefront of the Fatherland was held very joyfully and solemnly with homegrown performances by her and her students.
"The opening ceremony of our school year received great attention from the local authorities and military units stationed on the island. This is a spiritual gift, encouraging us and our students to continue to strive to teach well and study well," said Ms. Linh.
