Currently, on many roads in Hanoi, traffic signs appear with small, long lines of text that obstruct the view, causing difficulties for drivers.
The Government Office has just issued a document conveying the opinion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha on reviewing and handling existing problems and shortcomings in road traffic organization. It is noted that at the gateways to the center of Hanoi such as Quang Trung Street (Ha Dong District), Ho Tung Mau, Le Duc Tho (Nam Tu Liem District) and Hanoi's Old Quarter, there are signs and traffic signs printed with small, long lines that obscure the view, causing difficulties for drivers.
At the Le Duc Tho - Ham Nghi intersection (Nam Tu Liem district), the sign prohibiting trucks and passenger cars along with the instruction sign are printed in small, long letters. If drivers stop at a red light, it is difficult to read all the content.
On Xuan Thuy Street (Cau Giay District), a sign indicating the way to hotels is placed before the street sign.
The BRT lane sign on Le Van Luong Street is obscured by tree branches.
Even people who are familiar with traffic laws find it difficult to remember and understand everything when standing next to a sign.
The sign indicating that vehicles are allowed to circulate during the prescribed hours on Tran Nhan Tong walking street is covered by trees.
In Hanoi's Old Quarter, many traffic signs are being covered by trees or other objects or are installed in positions that make it difficult for passersby to see.
A no left turn sign on Hang Bo Street is obscured by a tree less than 2 meters away. If you want to see it, you have to go through the tree.
If going from Hang Bo to Hang Can, traffic participants cannot observe this no right turn sign even when approaching.
Regarding this, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the Ministry of Transport to preside over, together with the Ministry of Public Security and People's Committees of provinces and centrally-run cities, a comprehensive review and resolution of inadequacies in the system of traffic signs, traffic lights, licensing, arrangement of stops, parking lots, vehicle guards... causing traffic conflicts; and report the results to the Prime Minister before March 15.
