The two-day Reuters/Ipsos poll was conducted hours after a Manhattan jury convicted Trump on May 30. It included responses from 2,135 registered voters.
About 41% of voters said they would vote for Democrat Biden if the election were held today. Thirty-nine percent chose former President Donald Trump. About 20% of voters chose no candidate, were leaning toward third-party options or were unlikely to vote in the Nov. 5 election.

The latest Reuters/Ipsos poll found that one in 10 Republican voters said they would not vote for Mr Trump after his conviction.
Many voters remain undecided with five months to go until the election. A previous Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted from May 7 to 14 showed Mr Trump and Mr Biden tied at 40%.
The poll found that 10% of respondents would choose Robert Kennedy Jr., a politician running as an independent, if he were on the ballot alongside Trump and Biden. The previous poll showed Kennedy with 13% support.
Both candidates face significant challenges in the first US presidential election rematch in nearly 70 years.
On May 30, Mr. Trump became the first sitting U.S. president to be convicted of a crime. He said he would appeal the verdict, saying the prosecution was politically motivated. He could be sentenced in July and face prison time on 34 charges stemming from a hush money payment to a porn star before the 2016 presidential election.
Mr. Trump also faces three other criminal charges related to allegations that he tried to overturn his 2020 election loss and concealed classified documents after leaving office in 2021, although legal disputes could prevent those cases from going to trial before the November election. Mr. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Mr Biden’s challenges include concerns about his age – 81 – as well as strong criticism from some in the Democratic Party over his support for Israel’s war in Gaza. Protests have roiled American college campuses in recent months, raising concerns within the Democratic Party that some young voters could turn away from Mr Biden.
