Delivering a speech at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Ngoc Tam - Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that the August Revolution of 1945 was the greatest revolution in the history of the struggle for national liberation of Vietnam in the 20th century, which has entered the history of Vietnam as a brilliant milestone. The victory of the August Revolution of 1945 and the establishment of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945 created a turning point in the entire destiny of the country and the nation. Our country went from a semi-feudal colony to an independent and free nation, our people went from being slaves to becoming masters of their own destiny.
During the resistance war against the US, Ben Tre promoted the emulation movement to kill the enemy and gain achievements, and achieved feats that went down in national history. That was the victory of the Dong Khoi uprising in 1960.
From 1954 to 1959, the revolutionary movement in Ben Tre encountered many difficulties, many party organizations disintegrated, many cadres were captured by the enemy, at one point there were only 18 party cells with 162 party members left.
After the Central Resolution 15 was issued, with the seething revolutionary spirit and deep hatred for the enemy, the Party Committee and people of Ben Tre deployed and creatively applied it to their specific conditions, creating a miraculous uprising that terrified the enemy, contributing to turning the situation around, from defense, preserving forces to an offensive position, winning victory on the entire southern battlefield.
Responding to President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation, on January 17, 1960, the Party Committee and the people of Ben Tre rose up together to carry out the earth-shaking Dong Khoi movement with the motto: Two legs: politics, armed forces and Three prongs: politics, military, and military affairs, winning a resounding victory. From the victory of the Dong Khoi movement in Ben Tre, the flame of the Dong Khoi movement spread throughout the South Central Coast and the Central Highlands. The Dong Khoi movement in Ben Tre went down in history as the leading flag, holding a worthy position in the resistance war against the US to save the country in the South in particular and the whole country in general.
After the Dong Khoi movement, Ben Tre's political and armed forces continued to grow. With its great contributions in terms of manpower and resources, Ben Tre was honored to receive the 8 golden words from the Southern Liberation Army Command: "Heroic Dong Khoi, defeated the US and destroyed the puppet regime".
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province commended the achievement of winning the State Prize for literature and art with the work "Dong Khoi Memories" for 01 individual (Musician Vo Dang Tin); awarded certificates of merit for outstanding achievements over 2 years of implementing the patriotic emulation movement of Ben Tre province, period 2021 - 2025 to 18 collectives and 57 individuals.
