This morning (February 21), dozens of workers and sludge suction trucks continued to be mobilized to lane 7, Giang Van Minh street to fix the incident of overflowing additives in the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro tunnel.

Speaking with VietNamNet reporters, a representative of the Hanoi Urban Railway Management Board (MRB) - the investor, said that this unit and experts have agreed to reduce the speed of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station metro tunnel boring machine to assess issues related to the incident.

“After the excavator slows down and the pressure from below is gone, the additive will not overflow to the ground surface,” said an MRB representative.

This morning, experts on the Nhon - Hanoi metro tunnel and MRB met to carefully consider the impacts of the incident of tunnel additives overflowing onto the ground.

It is known that there are more than 30 households living in alley 7 Giang Van Minh street. Before the incident, 15 households had temporarily relocated, 3 households (potentially directly affected by tunnel construction) had handed over the site to the investor.

Previously, at around 3:00 p.m. on February 20, residents in lane 7, Giang Van Minh street discovered a lot of mud and dirt overflowing from the drainage manholes, so they reported it to the authorities.

This is the area within the underground section of urban railway line No. 3, Nhon - Hanoi station section. This underground section is under construction.

MRB said that as soon as the incident was discovered, the investor, the joint venture contractor Hyundai & Ghella and the supervising consultant quickly implemented handling measures in accordance with technical procedures to overcome the incident and ensure safety and environmental sanitation.

By 9:00 p.m. on February 20, the units had mobilized 6 sludge suction trucks, 2 road washing trucks and more than 100 workers.

MRB said the cause could be due to the existence of old wells or sewers underground that created a path for tunneling additives to flow to the surface.

According to the project process, before tunnel drilling, the consultant and contractor conducted a survey of the works along the route.
