Spain midfielder Jude Bellingham regularly cuts holes in the back of his socks, something that is not allowed in La Liga.

Bellingham has been spotted with large holes cut into the back of his socks in Real Madrid's games this season. La Liga has banned this practice. However, the Spanish club's "number 5" has not been punished.

According to AS , Bellingham cut holes in the back of his socks to make them wider. Tight socks can reduce blood circulation and lead to cramps.

Bellingham had holes cut into the back of his socks while playing for Dortmund. His Real Madrid teammate Brahim Diaz and England teammate Bukayo Saka have also done so. They see it as a medical advancement that allows for greater comfort in the calf muscles.

Bellingham joined Real Madrid from Dortmund for $110 million in the summer. The move was costly, but is considered the most successful deal of the first half of the 2023-2024 season. Bellingham has scored 17 goals in 22 games for his new club, despite playing as a midfielder. He leads the race for the La Liga Golden Boot with 13 goals, one more than the two players behind him, Getafe striker Borja Mayoral and Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

Bellingham's scoring rate has increased from four goals in 44 games for Birmingham City, 24 goals in 132 games for Dortmund and two goals in 27 games for England.

Real Madrid currently lead La Liga with 48 points after 19 games. They are level on points and have a better goal difference than second-placed Girona. Real Madrid are also in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey and in the last 16 of the Champions League. Bellingham and his team-mates will play Atletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final in Saudi Arabia on January 10, while Barca will face Osasuna in the other semi-final. The final will be played on January 14.
