Young people in 12 provinces and cities call for 'passing hands'

A group of young people including students in 12 provinces and cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Gia Lai, Ha Nam, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Hai Phong, Binh Duong, Lam Dong, Quang Nam and Nam Dinh have established 40 points to receive and classify products sent by people.

Hand-delivered products include cakes, candies, jams, nutritional seeds, milk, bottled water, canned foods... that are still within their expiration dates. The group does not accept fresh foods because they are difficult to preserve.

This activity will take place after Tet and will last until March 2. The products received will be given to disadvantaged children in mountainous and border areas next March.

Mr. Le Van Phuc - head of the Fly to Sky volunteer club - said that this year the group aims to mobilize 3,000 - 5,000 gifts for children in border areas.

"After Tet, many families still have a lot of unused cakes, candies, jams, and nuts (of all kinds). With the desire to share the cakes, candies, and 'pass on' the joy of the past Tet holidays to children in mountainous and disadvantaged areas in border areas, it helps to avoid waste and minimize leftover food.

After collecting, the group members will carefully classify and select to ensure usability before donating to disadvantaged children. The group welcomes the companionship of many different ages and components in society," said Mr. Phuc.

Learn more about the value of sharing

Dinh Le Hoang Khang (student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics) shared: "I see the practical values that this activity brings to the community. This is also a quite new and creative campaign of young people who dare to think and dare to do.

This donation activity also meets the urgent needs of children in border areas, as well as calls on the community to limit food waste after Tet."

Bui Quang Thuan Thien (student of Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai province) confided: "Tet is an occasion for families to reunite and share good things, but not everyone has the conditions to fully celebrate Tet.

This activity helps me feel more clearly the value of sharing, bringing warmth to disadvantaged children. At the same time, it spreads meaningful things, shows love and solidarity in the community.

I realized that small actions like contributing candy, jam, Tet gifts... can bring joy and hope to children in remote areas, helping them have a more complete and meaningful Tet holiday."
