(DN)- On the afternoon of June 4, athlete Huynh Ngoc Phung (Dong Nai) in the Vietnam Paralympic Sports Team won 2 silver medals in the men's 54 kg weightlifting category at the 12th ASEAN Para Games held in Cambodia.

Huynh Ngoc Phung and his teammate Nguyen Binh An competed in the men's weightlifting category of 54kg. In the 3 weightlifting sessions, Nguyen Binh An and Huynh Ngoc Phung both chose to lift a weight that was different from their opponents from Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Laos and Cambodia. Both Vietnamese weightlifters Binh An and Ngoc Phung were also the only 2 weightlifters to complete and be scored for all 3 weightlifting sessions.
With the highest clean and jerk result of 133kg and total lift of 392kg, Huynh Ngoc Phung won 2 silver medals in the 54kg category. Meanwhile, Nguyen Binh An excellently brought home 2 gold medals for the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation with the highest clean and jerk result of 145kg and total lift of 429kg.
On the same afternoon, weightlifter Le Van Cong excellently brought home 2 more gold medals for the Vietnamese delegation in the men's weightlifting category of 49kg, including: 1 gold medal for the highest clean and jerk result (168kg) and 1 gold medal for the total lift result (496kg).

The 12th ASEAN Para Games in 2023 will take place from June 3 to 9 in Cambodia. The Games will feature more than 1,400 athletes from 11 countries and territories in Southeast Asia. Athletes will compete in the following sports: athletics, badminton, boccia, chess, 5-a-side football, 7-a-side football, judo, weightlifting, swimming, table tennis, sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball and E-sport.
The Vietnamese delegation consists of 164 members, including 21 coaches and 122 athletes (including 2 guide athletes). The Vietnamese athletes compete in the following sports: athletics, swimming, weightlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo and boccia.
