According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a tropical depression is currently active in the eastern part of the Philippines and is expected to strengthen into a storm in the next 24 hours. It is likely to move into the East Sea around October 25.
Due to the influence of the tropical depression from the afternoon and night of October 24, the eastern sea area of the North East Sea (east of the 118.5 degree East longitude) has winds gradually increasing to level 8, the area near the storm center has strong winds of level 9 - 10, gusting to level 12.
To proactively respond to the tropical depression, on the evening of October 21, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep signed and issued a dispatch requesting ministries, branches, and Chairmen of People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Dinh to focus on implementing response measures.
The key task in the coming days is to continue to closely monitor forecasts and warnings; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels (including cruise ships) operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property.
Prepare forces and means for rescue when required. Maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur. At the same time, direct the media to strengthen propaganda measures on weather developments and natural disasters to authorities at all levels and people to proactively prevent and respond.
