The spacious "Union Shelters" have been supported with funding for construction and repair by the Unions at all levels, not only helping union members and workers stabilize their housing but also creating a solid foundation for them to work with peace of mind and be more stable in life.
The “Trade Union Shelter” program launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) in 2006 has become a widely spread social activity, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity, mutual love and support, and has been widely supported by union members and employees of agencies and units. To care for workers, since the beginning of the year, all levels of the Kien Giang Provincial Trade Union have supported the construction and handover of hundreds of “Trade Union Shelters” to union members and employees with housing difficulties with a support level of 50 million VND/house and repaired one house with a cost of 25 million VND.

In Quang Ninh, the first locality in the country to implement the "Trade Union Shelter" program, it has created a large social effect and efficiency due to the profound humanity that the program brings. In particular, in order to share and help workers overcome difficulties, from the beginning of 2024, Trade Unions at all levels in the province have reviewed and counted cases with difficult housing circumstances to plan timely assistance. Typically, the Health Sector Trade Union, Ms. Doan Thi Thu Hien - Chairwoman of the Health Sector Trade Union of Quang Ninh province said that according to the results of synthesizing the lives of workers in the whole industry, there are more than 500 people with difficult circumstances, 25 cases of housing difficulties, we have organized donations from various sources, supported the construction and repair of houses for 17 cases in 2024 with an amount of 1.6 billion VND. Up to this point, 6 "Trade Union Shelters" have been accepted. In the coming time, we will continue to accept the remaining houses so that workers in the industry have stable accommodation. In 2025, the industry will continue to support the construction of houses for union members and workers in difficult circumstances so that they can work with peace of mind and complete their assigned tasks.
