On the evening of June 9, the first National Press Awards ceremony on the National Assembly and People's Councils (Dien Hong Awards) took place in Hanoi. President Vo Van Thuong, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and many leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly, and Vietnam Fatherland Front attended and presented awards to the winning authors.
The Dien Hong Award is of great significance, implemented on the basis of Conclusion No. 1295-KL/DĐQH15 dated December 23, 2022 of the Party Delegation of the National Assembly. According to the organizing committee, after more than 4 months of launching, the first Dien Hong Award received 3,328 press works from 171 domestic and international press agencies, 7 Offices of the National Assembly Delegation and People's Councils.
The above figures demonstrate the appeal and attraction of the Dien Hong Award to the media and society, not only domestically, but also abroad.
According to the Award Judging Council, this is a quality award and will be an important press award in our country's revolutionary press award system.
The judging panel, consisting of prestigious and experienced journalists, worked actively, meticulously, impartially and objectively, selecting 67 excellent works to award the first Dien Hong Prize, specifically: 5 A Prizes, 13 B Prizes, 16 C Prizes, 31 Encouragement Prizes; 2 prizes outside the structure; no special prizes.
In addition, the Organizing Committee of the Award selected and awarded Certificates of Merit from the Chief of the National Assembly Office to collectives with outstanding achievements, making important contributions to the success of the first Dien Hong Award - 2023.
The works selected for the Dien Hong Prize have been carefully invested, scientifically and of high quality, demonstrating both content and form, including works that are multi-part series, using modern propaganda forms.
The content of the works vividly reflects the theme of the Dien Hong Award; many works closely follow the process of improving and innovating the organization and operation of the National Assembly and People's Councils, closely follow the breath of life, reflect the thoughts and aspirations of voters and people, and propose suggestions to improve the quality and effectiveness of the activities of elected bodies.
The works have highlighted the position and role of the National Assembly and People's Councils, focusing on reflecting the activities of the National Assembly delegation, National Assembly deputies, and People's Council deputies, with strong influence on society and the public.
Speaking at the award ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that this is an important and meaningful event taking place during the 5th session of the 15th National Assembly, celebrating the 75th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's call for patriotic emulation (June 11, 1948 - June 11, 2023) and the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2023).
The National Assembly Chairman said that one of the great sources of encouragement, contributing to enhancing the position, strength and prestige of the National Assembly and People's Councils over the past many years, is the comprehensive, persistent and creative contribution of the country's press.
"In its role as an important bridge, closely connecting elected bodies with the people and voters nationwide, the country's press is increasingly demonstrating its worthiness as a collective propagandist, collective cheerleader, collective organizer, and at the same time a channel of intellectual and responsible criticism towards the country," affirmed National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.
According to the head of the National Assembly, the country's press and media system has proactively and comprehensively propagated and promoted, contributing to the implementation of the Party's policies and guidelines institutionalized by the National Assembly and People's Councils through decisions and action movements nationwide.
The National Assembly Chairman emphasized: "The press has truthfully and vividly reflected the legitimate thoughts and aspirations of all sectors, all classes, voters, people nationwide and our compatriots abroad to the National Assembly and People's Council forums; at the same time, it is an important and reliable channel for voters to supervise elected bodies and elected representatives."
The National Assembly Chairman assessed that the works entered and awarded the Dien Hong Prize are the crystallization of the enthusiasm, sense of responsibility, love for the profession, faith, and sincere feelings of writers and photographers towards the people's representative agencies.
The works selected for the Dien Hong Prize are carefully invested, scientific, of high quality, demonstrating both diversity in style and modernity in journalism. Among them, there are works that are multi-part series, using modern propaganda forms.
From the success of the first Dien Hong Award, with the spirit of "Dien Hong", "thousands of people shouting together", the National Assembly Chairman hopes that the award will continue to receive great consensus and support, opening up new horizons of exploration, discovery and creativity for the press system, domestic and foreign writers writing about the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National Assembly.
On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day, the Chairman of the National Assembly respectfully sends to the national press system and all journalists nationwide his best wishes for creativity, development and success.
At the ceremony, representatives of the Party and State leaders, members of the National Assembly Standing Committee, leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches presented awards to the authors and groups of authors who won the Dien Hong Prize and to the units that made positive contributions to the success of the Prize.
At the end of the award ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man launched the second Dien Hong Award - 2024.
The second Dien Hong Award Ceremony will be held in early January 2024, on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the first general election to elect the Vietnamese National Assembly (January 6, 1946 - January 6, 2024).
