Low purchasing power and bad weather have caused traders at the Da Nang Spring Flower Market to simultaneously "sell off" and deeply discount ornamental plants in the hope of recovering capital.
According to Dan Viet reporters, although it is already the 29th day of the Lunar New Year (February 8), the number of visitors to the Da Nang Spring Flower Market is still very sparse.
On the morning of February 8, it rained in Da Nang, and the rain is forecast to continue in the coming days. This has caused many traders to decide to reduce prices and "clear their stocks" to quickly sell off all the trees and go home for Tet.
Apricot pots with prices ranging from 2 million to 5 million VND, now only cost 500 thousand to several million.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh (trader) shared: "The number of buyers is sparse, plus the bad weather, we traders now have to lower prices to hopefully compensate for the loss of transportation costs."
Flowers bloom, gardener must pick some off.
The number of customers is sparse even though it is the 29th of Tet.
Kumquat prices range from 700 thousand to 3 million VND.
Mr. Thanh Vi (residing in Hai Chau district, Da Nang) said: "On the morning of the 29th of Tet, I had time to choose decorative plants for my house. I saw that there were still many apricot, peach, kumquat trees... and the prices were very reasonable. It didn't take me too much time to choose a satisfactory tree."
According to flower and ornamental plant sellers, this year's market consumption is very poor, with only about 30% sold so far.
After purchasing, the bonsai will be "shipped" to your home.
