On the evening of December 12, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked at the National Defense Academy.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested, wished and believed that by 2030, the National Defense Academy would be a regional-level center for training, education and research in military science and art, and by 2045, it would be famous in the world, worthy of the heroic Vietnamese Army and heroic Vietnamese people.
Over 48 years of construction, growth and development, the National Defense Academy has always fulfilled all assigned tasks, making important contributions to the training and fostering of senior officials of the Party, State and armed forces; researching and developing military science and art; carrying out defense diplomacy, actively contributing to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
The Academy was awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces in the renovation period, the Ho Chi Minh Medal, two First-class Independence Medals and many other noble awards.
In particular, in the past 10 years, the Academy has continuously been awarded the Flag of the leading unit in the emulation movement to win by the Government and the Ministry of National Defense.
Currently, the National Defense Academy has 6 agencies, 10 teaching departments and 4 student management systems.
Among the staff are 22 Associate Professors, 98 Doctors, 137 Masters, 13 comrades who have fought and served in combat.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the Academy is organizing 9 training courses with 309 comrades. The students are all senior officials of the Party, State, and Vietnam People's Army; and senior officers of the neighboring country's Army. Notably, this year the Academy continues to open the 6th international defense officer training course with 18 students from 12 countries.
Speaking to the cadres, lecturers, students and soldiers of the National Defense Academy, expressing his joy at returning to visit and witness the remarkable development in politics, military, forces and facilities of the Academy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that over the past 80 years, under the leadership of the Party, the love and care of the people, and the help of international friends, the Vietnam People's Army has achieved many glorious feats and great victories, building a heroic tradition, a glorious career, glorifying the history of building and defending the country of the nation, worthy of being the heroic army of the heroic Vietnamese people as President Ho Chi Minh said: "Our army is loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every mission is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated."

Recounting real stories that the Prime Minister experienced about the heroic sacrifices of the Army and the special military-civilian relationship, the profound image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that in recent years, to meet the requirements and tasks of protecting the Fatherland in the new situation, the Vietnam People's Army is focusing on building a strong, compact, revolutionary, disciplined, elite, and modern force.
Our army is truly a “Fighting Army,” “Working Army,” “Production Labor Army,” always a pioneering, exemplary force, leading in difficulties and hardships, making important contributions to the achievements of national construction and development; enhancing Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena.
According to the Prime Minister, promoting the heroic tradition of the Army and as a leading center for education, training, scientific research, and international cooperation of the Army and the nation, the National Defense Academy has made many contributions to the common achievements of the Army and the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
After 48 years of construction and growth, always seriously grasping and effectively implementing the Party's guidelines, policies and viewpoints, the State's policies and laws, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, the National Defense Academy has achieved many important achievements and results.
In particular, the Academy does well in strategic consulting on military, national defense, and army building; researches, summarizes practices, consults, and proposes many theoretical and practical issues of value in planning policies, guidelines, mechanisms, and policies on national defense, security, and military; builds armed forces, develops economy, culture, and society associated with national defense, security, and builds and protects the Fatherland in the new situation.
The Academy has trained tens of thousands of senior military officers; fostered defense and security knowledge for thousands of senior officials of the Party, State and armed forces; trained hundreds of doctors and masters of military science, contributing to improving the quality of the cadres of the Party, State and armed forces.
Training has made much progress, with increasingly high quality; closely following reality to adjust the content, programs, and training methods; actively implementing the Party and State's foreign policy, defense diplomacy; enhancing exchanges, academic research, and experience sharing at international forums, with universities, academies, and defense research institutes of many countries, contributing to enhancing the international position of the Army and the country.
The Academy has proactively built facilities, techniques, barracks, information technology infrastructure, digital transformation, promoted the application of science and technology; built an advanced and modern cultural and pedagogical environment; built a strong Party organization that is exemplary in politics, ideology, organization, ethics and staff, and a comprehensively strong Academy that is "exemplary and exemplary." At the same time, it has paid attention to taking care of the material and spiritual lives of cadres, students, employees and soldiers; built a team of excellent cadres and leading experts in teaching and scientific research. |

Warmly congratulating and praising the achievements and efforts of the cadres, lecturers, students, staff and soldiers of the National Defense Academy in recent years, the Prime Minister said that 2025 has a special significance, marking the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Party, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country and the tasks set are very heavy.
We must both "accelerate and break through," strive to successfully achieve the socio-economic development goals of the entire 2021-2025 term; and at the same time, we must reorganize the apparatus; successfully organize party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Assessing that the world and regional situation continues to develop in a complex and unpredictable manner; difficulties, challenges and opportunities are intertwined, but difficulties and challenges are greater, the Prime Minister said that the cause of building and defending the Fatherland faces many difficulties and challenges and poses heavy tasks for the Army, including the National Defense Academy.
To perform well the assigned tasks and contribute more to the Army and the country, the Prime Minister requested the National Defense Academy to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously and effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws on military, national defense and security; monitor, grasp, analyze and correctly assess the situation to do a good job of strategic advisory work for the Party and the State to respond promptly; actively participate in major policies and programs of the Party, the State and the People; organize well the Party Congresses at all levels, towards the Party Congress of the entire army and the 14th National Party Congress associated with building a truly clean and strong Party organization; improve the leadership capacity and fighting strength of the Party organization and Party members.
Along with that, focus on summarizing, researching, and perfecting theories, science, and art on military and national defense; improve the quality of research and forecasting the situation, in order to have policies and strategic solutions for national development, while maintaining independence and autonomy.
At the same time, promote research and propose solutions for socio-economic development associated with ensuring national defense, security and foreign affairs.
Specifying that the National Defense Academy must continue to improve the quality of training and education, actively contributing to the building and improving the quality of the Party, State and armed forces' staff, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation; promoting digital transformation, building databases, building a bright, green, clean and beautiful Academy; making English the second language in the Academy; accelerating the modernization and application of science and technology, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the Academy to update the impacts of science and technology on the military, defense and security fields to study the organization and building of the army; suitable for the combat objects and the practical methods of current warfare.

The Head of Government noted that the Academy needs to effectively implement the foreign policy of the Party and State, promote foreign affairs, and substantive and effective defense cooperation, contributing to promoting military and defense relations with major countries, strategic partners, ASEAN countries and traditional friends; perform well the task of training and fostering senior military officers for friendly countries; promote international cooperation in training, contributing to countries understanding each other, exchanging and jointly solving issues of common concern; at the same time actively participate in the fight to defeat plots and tricks to sabotage the Party, State and Army; do a good job of protecting internal politics and security; and combating "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the organization.
Requiring the Academy to focus on investment and development worthy of its status as a center for training and fostering senior officials; leading scientific research, development and international cooperation, a cradle for training talents of the Army and the nation, the Prime Minister proposed building a team of cadres and lecturers who are politically and ideologically strong; good at professional expertise; have strategic thinking; have intelligence and practical capacity to meet task requirements; build Party committees, Party organizations and a strong, exemplary team of cadres and Party members; build a united Party organization with high leadership capacity and fighting strength associated with building a regular, advanced and exemplary Academy.
Affirming that the Party, State and Government always pay attention to leading, directing and creating favorable conditions for the National Defense Academy to become a modern military and defense science training and research center on par with other countries in the region and the world, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the National Defense Academy will continue to innovate, have strong and breakthrough developments, excellently complete the tasks entrusted by the Party, State, Government, Army and People, and increasingly contribute to the cause of national construction and defense./.
