Champions League qualifying matches confirmed: Man City vs Real Madrid

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) held a draw for the 2024-2025 Champions League play-off round on the evening of January 31. Previously, according to the preliminary bracket, Man City would definitely have to face one of two strong opponents, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich. Finally, UEFA's draw showed the match between Man City and Real Madrid - the two most recent champions of the tournament competing against each other.

Due to their low position in the qualifying round, Man City will play the first leg at the Etihad Stadium (Manchester, England) on the night of February 11 or 12. The rematch between the two teams will take place at the Bernabeu Stadium (Madrid, Spain) a week later. The winner of this match will face Atletico Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16.

The 2024-2025 Champions League (Cup C1) season ended its qualifying round after the final round of matches on the morning of January 30. After 8 rounds, 12 out of 36 participating clubs were eliminated. 24 teams advanced, with the top 8 teams going straight to the round of 16.

Liverpool, Barcelona, Arsenal, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille and Aston Villa have qualified directly for the round of 16.

The next 16 teams will have to compete in a play-off round, in which the teams ranked 9-16 will face the remaining teams (ranked 17-24) to determine the remaining 8 teams to participate in the round of 16.
