Vinschool Education System was honored to receive two awards for the categories of Mental Health Awareness and Climate Change Education at the ESG Business Awards International Sustainability Awards Ceremony, held on November 6 in Singapore.
The ESG Business Awards is an annual award initiated by Asian Business Review magazine, honoring businesses and organizations that are leading the way in promoting positive social change and building a sustainable future in the Asian region. At the same time, the award supports development towards innovative goals and meaningful impact in the areas of climate change mitigation, resource conservation, social responsibility and ethical governance.
In the Health and Wellness Award category, Vinschool, with the project “Wellbeing for better learning” (WBL), was awarded the Leading System in the field of Mental Health Awareness by ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Business Awards 2023. WBL is a school mental health support project launched in 2021 by the Vinschool School Psychology Department with the goal of connecting students, parents, schools and psychologists to raise awareness and enhance mental health care activities for students across the system.
After 2 years of implementation, the project has completed nearly 100 capacity training courses for nearly 1,500 Vinschool teachers on caring for, supporting and improving students' mental health; supporting students to implement many projects on school mental health such as the BeWell series (student-led wellbeing workshops), or the Talk Psychology forum...
The annual psychology forum has attracted the direct participation of thousands of Vinschool students and parents, as well as hundreds of thousands of online views on social networks; School Psychology clubs established at most Vinschool campuses have attracted the participation of a large number of students and have truly become a source of spreading knowledge and practice of school mental health care at Vinschool.
In particular, to improve the ability to monitor and support students' mental health, Vinschool has developed the SWB (Student Wellbeing System) application. This application currently attracts nearly 65,000 registered accounts from parents and students throughout the system.
Meanwhile, the subject “Global Citizenship Education” (GCED) won the category of Vietnam’s Leading Education System for Climate Change Education (Vietnam Climate Advocacy and Education Award). A unique subject only available at Vinschool, GCED is built on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The subject helps students understand important issues in Vietnam and around the world, thereby developing the skills and qualities needed to become a pioneering generation that opens the way and creates the future.
GCED is implemented for all students from grades 1 to 12 across the system. One of the focuses of GCED is education on sustainable development and environmental protection, aiming to meet the important educational goal of ensuring sustainable development of the world. Throughout the learning process, students will not only be provided with knowledge about practical issues but also carry out practical projects to solve environmental problems in the community.
From their understanding of sustainable development, Vinschool students have actively and proactively led many environmental and climate projects outside the scope of their subjects, as well as actively participated in prestigious competitions on sustainable development. Notably, the disaster rescue drone project "The Servator" won first prize in the high school category at the Pratt and Whitney Singapore Invention Convention (PWSIC) by Vinser Bui Khanh Minh. In addition, Vinschool students have also launched many competitions within the system such as Z Pitch or Innovation Challenge to share and develop start-up ideas and green projects that contribute to building a sustainable society.
Being honored with a double award at the ESG Business Awards has helped Vinschool once again make its mark as a pioneer leading the trend of educational innovation in Vietnam: not only focusing on knowledge and skills but also focusing on mental health care and caring for global sustainable development.
After more than 9 years of establishment, Vinschool now has 50 campuses, attracting nearly 48,000 students from kindergarten to high school nationwide. Notably, Vinschool has twice been awarded certificates of merit for educational innovation by the Ministry of Education and Training, is the first and only Vietnamese school to be fully certified by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is also the first education system in Vietnam to receive 2 prestigious awards for EdTech (digital transformation in education) at the recent Asian Technology Excellence Awards 2023 international awards ceremony. |
