According to the schedule of phase 2 of V-League 2023 announced by VPF, group A teams (8 teams ranked higher competing for the championship) and group B teams (6 teams ranked lower competing for relegation) will play the first 5 rounds together.
Also, Group B has 6 teams so the relegation race will be completed after round 5 of phase 2, with rounds 1 week apart taking place on July 15-16, July 23, July 30, August 5 and August 11.
On the contrary, group A with 8 teams will play 7 rounds with a slightly different time. Round 1 of phase 2 will take place in 3 days: July 15, July 16, July 17 or round 3 will take place on July 27, July 28, July 29, round 4 will take place on August 1, August 2.
In particular, after rounds 5 and 6 taking place on August 6 and 12 (when group B has finished playing), V-League 2023 will only have group A, which will suddenly stop for 2 weeks, before ending in the final round 7 on August 27.
Hai Huy will play with Hai Phong Club in the AFC Cup preliminary round in August.
This makes many fans confused as to why VPF does not arrange a seamless V-League schedule, helping players and teams to have the best performance while the Vietnam national team and U.23 Vietnam are not focused.
VPF General Director Nguyen Minh Ngoc shared: "At first, AFC announced the schedule for the AFC Cup preliminary round on August 8 and 22, so VPF arranged the V-League there.
However, AFC later moved the two matches of Hai Phong Club in the AFC Cup preliminary round to August 15 and 22, so we were forced to temporarily suspend the V-League and squeeze the National Cup schedule into this period because Hai Phong Club had stopped in the Asian arena.

It is known that according to the AFC schedule, Hai Phong Club will play the AFC Cup preliminary round in Hong Kong, at BC Rangers Club on August 15. The winning team will fly to Korea to face Xuan Truong and Cong Phuong's old club, Incheon United, on August 22, to earn an official ticket to the 2023-2024 AFC Cup.
The quarter-finals of the 2023 National Cup will take place on August 10 and 11, then the 4 teams that have reached the semi-finals will face each other on August 16, after round 6 of phase 2 of the 2023 V-League has ended.
The 2023 National Cup final will take place on August 20, before the 2023 V-League and the 2023 National First Division come to an end with the final round taking place a week later.
