With the desire to add more faith and motivation to children in difficult circumstances and children with serious illnesses, recently, the "Nurturing Aspirations" program implemented by the Provincial Children's Support Fund in coordination with Binh Duong Radio and Television has connected kind hearts inside and outside the province to help and support hundreds of children in the province.
The program "Nurturing Aspirations" provides support to the family of Nguyen Thi Anh Ngoc in Tan Hiep ward, Tan Uyen city.
Give TE some motivation.
We had the opportunity to accompany the program to visit and give gifts to Nguyen Thi Anh Ngoc (born in 2009) in Ong Dong neighborhood, Tan Hiep ward, Tan Uyen city, who has acute myeloid leukemia. Ngoc's family is a poor household, her father is a bricklayer, her mother is a street vendor with an unstable income because she often has to stop selling to take Ngoc for treatment. All of Ngoc's medical expenses and the family's living expenses depend mainly on the unstable income of her parents and the support of the local government.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien, Ngoc's mother, shared: "The family discovered that Ngoc was sick in March this year. Since then, the family has borrowed money everywhere to treat her. The family is willing to give up everything to take care of her, just hoping that she will be healthy and happy to go to school with her friends." When asked about her current wishes, Anh Ngoc hesitantly said: "I just wish my parents had good health to be by my side, accompanying me throughout the treatment process. And I also hope my family has enough money to treat me so that I can get well soon and go to school with my friends."
Leaving Anh Ngoc's house, our group continued to Truong Thi Cam Ly's house (born in 2016) in Tan Thinh hamlet, An Binh commune, Phu Giao district. Seeing her family's situation with our own eyes, we could not help but feel sorry. Cam Ly has a chondrosarcoma of the upper head of the right humerus, and had surgery in May 2023. Ly's grandfather and father work for hire so their income is low, her grandmother is often sick and cannot work, her mother left when Ly was only 2 months old. Ly's family situation is very difficult when currently all of Ly's medical treatment costs, the whole family's living expenses depend mainly on the unstable income of her grandfather and father, along with the support of local authorities, benefactors and neighbors. Also because the family's situation is too difficult, Ly and her sister cannot go to school.
At the visit and support for the families of the 2 children in the "Nurturing Aspirations" Program, the Provincial Children's Support Fund awarded each child 20 million VND. On this occasion, local authorities and benefactors also presented gifts to the 2 families to help them have more conditions to take care of the children. Ly and Ngoc are just 2 of many cases that the "Nurturing Aspirations" Program has supported and helped in a timely manner, adding motivation on the arduous journey of treatment.
To spread the program more and more
The “Nurturing Aspirations” program was established and maintained since 2016. After 7 years of operation, the program has supported more than 150 children in difficult circumstances with a total amount of nearly 5.5 billion VND from socialized sources. In 2023 alone, the program has implemented 14 issues, supporting 14 children in especially difficult circumstances with an amount of more than 450 million VND including gifts and cash.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Nguyen Tan Trieu, Director of the Provincial Children's Support Fund, said: "With the desire to be a bridge that can connect many kind-hearted people to poor children, adding motivation and trust to them, we hope that the program will contribute more humane values in the process of caring for and protecting children in difficult circumstances in the province. We will continue to connect and share so that the program can truly be a support for children in difficult circumstances to rise up in life, strive to be good children, good students, contributing to building an increasingly rich and beautiful homeland."
In addition to the “Nurturing Aspirations” Program, the Provincial Children’s Fund also has many programs aimed at poor children and children in difficult circumstances, such as the “Vietnam Rising Milk Fund” Program, which is supporting 900 students; the “Happy Noodle Package” Program, which is supporting 800 children at charity homes, charity houses and social protection centers in the province. “In the coming time, in addition to the fixed programs, the Provincial Children’s Fund will plan to coordinate with departments and branches to organize more activities to care for children,” Mr. Trieu added.
The images of children in difficult circumstances smiling and receiving support left us with deep and touching feelings. We believe that, with the program's goal of "not leaving poor children behind" and with the noble gestures of the benefactors, many poor and disadvantaged children will have the opportunity to change their fate, have enough to eat, warm clothes, go to school, and strive to study well to become useful citizens in society.
