This important moment took place at 11:20 Paris time (17:20 Vietnam time) at the 42nd Plenary Session of the UNESCO General Conference (France). Ms. Audrey Azoulay - President of the 42nd UNESCO General Conference session, rapped the hammer to approve a resolution with a list of 53 cultural celebrities and historical events that will be honored and celebrated by UNESCO.
Among the 53 famous people and events recorded in Document 42C/15 is the great physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac of Vietnam. The document clearly states: "Commemorating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac, physician (1724 - 1791)".

This is a great event not only for Ha Tinh - Vietnam but also a common honor for the member countries of UNESCO. UNESCO's adoption of the resolution to join in celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac has affirmed the international appreciation for the cultural and medical values of Vietnam, and for the famous Le Huu Trac personally; contributing to promoting the goals of free development, improving geographical representation and promoting gender equality, improving the quality and transparency of the programs that UNESCO is promoting.
This is also the result of the efforts and close coordination over the past time between Ha Tinh province and the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnamese and international experts and scientists.

Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac was born in the year of Giap Thin (1724) and died in the year of Tan Hoi (1791). His hometown was Lieu Xa village, Duong Hao district, Thuong Hong prefecture, Hai Duong town (now Lieu Xa commune, Yen My district, Hung Yen province). However, his life was mainly attached to Huong Son land, Ha Tinh province. Le Huu Trac's tomb is now in Son Trung commune, Le Huu Trac's memorial area is in Quang Diem commune, both in Huong Son district, Ha Tinh province.
Le Huu Trac is a famous physician who made great contributions to Vietnamese traditional medicine. In addition, he was also an outstanding writer, poet, and scientist in the history of our country in the 18th century. Le Huu Trac left behind a monumental career with famous works such as: Thuong Kinh Ky Su, Nu Cong Thang Lam, Bao Thai Than Hieu Dien Ca, Ve Sinh Yeu Quyet... In particular, the book Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh (28 volumes, divided into 66 chapters), considered an encyclopedia of Oriental medicine, is a milestone marking a new step forward, paving the way for the development of Vietnamese traditional medicine.
Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh shows that Vietnamese traditional medicine has its own truth, closely linked to practical experience, suitable to Vietnamese customs and medicinal herbs; a purely Vietnamese medicine, imbued with ethics and full of humanity and humanity. In addition to the field of medicine (Oriental medicine), the book series also has value in many fields such as: literature, history, education, and cultural studies. Hai Thuong Y Tong Tam Linh has value not only in Vietnam but also in many countries around the world.

Thus, with UNESCO's resolution this time, Vietnam has 7 famous people honored by UNESCO, participating in the celebration: Nguyen Du (1965, 2015), Nguyen Trai (1980), President Ho Chi Minh (1990), Chu Van An (2019), Ho Xuan Huong (2021), Nguyen Dinh Chieu (2021) and Le Huu Trac (2023).
