In a statement on social media, Mr. Yermak announced that the two sides discussed coordinating joint efforts to achieve “just and lasting peace” in Ukraine.

Mr. Yermak also criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for never obeying the law and Moscow only values force, while disdaining those who do not use it.

Regarding the prospects of a peace agreement with Russia, the Chief of Staff of the Ukrainian President affirmed that “any agreement without strong sanctions against Russia will not be effective and the intention to control Ukraine remains the foundation of the Kremlin's imperial ambitions”.

The statement was made amid concerns that the US and Russia are moving towards a peace deal that would be disadvantageous to Ukraine, forcing Kiev to cede territory to Russia and deny it the opportunity to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

* On the same day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he had a good conversation with US Vice President JD Vance, but stressed that the two sides need to work more on a plan to end the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking after meeting the US Vice President on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, Mr. Zelensky said that the two sides need to exchange more, work more and prepare plans to stop Russia.

In addition, the Ukrainian leader also emphasized that Kiev and Washington had a good exchange, and affirmed that although this was the first meeting with Vice President Vance, it "certainly will not be the last".

* Meanwhile, a source from the Washington Post (WP) newspaper revealed that President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the proposal to give the US ownership of 50% of Ukraine's future mineral resources.

In a post on social network X, WP journalist Josh Rogin cited sources from the Munich Security Conference saying that the US Congressional delegation at the event sent President Zelensky a draft agreement giving the US ownership of half of Ukraine's future mineral reserves. The US delegation wanted the Ukrainian leader to sign this document, but Mr. Zelensky refused.

Meanwhile, two members of the Ukrainian delegation said on the same day that Kiev and Washington were still trying to reach an agreement on important minerals and some details still needed to be discussed further.

Earlier this month, US President Donald Trump expressed hope that Ukraine would secure Washington's access to its rare earth resources in exchange for financial and military aid.

* Regarding the prospects for peace in Ukraine, on the same day, February 14, US Vice President JD Vance affirmed his readiness to go to Russia to negotiate on the Ukraine issue. This statement was made by Mr. Vance in an interview with the Russian daily Izvestia on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference on the conflict in Ukraine.

Earlier in the day, Mr. Vance revealed to the Wall Street Journal that negotiations to resolve the Ukraine conflict between Russia and the United States would lead to an agreement that would “shock many people.”

On February 13, US President Donald Trump announced that there will be a meeting between representatives of Russia, the US and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia next week.
