Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov revealed on December 28 that more than 96% of the number of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) used by the country's military in 2024 will come from domestic UAV products.
The Kyiv Independent quoted Mr. Umerov as saying that the drone manufacturing industry in Ukraine has “reached unprecedented production volumes” this year, having created more than 1.5 million UAVs of various types. The models Kyiv is building can adapt to any terrain at sea, in the air and on land, and perform a variety of missions from reconnaissance to attack.
Ukraine seeks to develop its own missiles capable of reaching Moscow
Ukrainian officials hope the country can mass produce more advanced UAVs to make up for the dwindling aid arsenal, amid predictions of a difficult year for Kyiv’s military on the ground in 2025. Yesterday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the interception of 9 out of 10 UAVs deployed by the Russian military overnight in the Mykolaiv region of Ukraine. Kyiv added that on December 28, there were 158 clashes in frontline areas, with hot spots appearing on the roads leading to the eastern city of Pokrovsk.

In addition, the Ukrainian General Staff said Russia had lost more than 1,700 soldiers on December 28. Moscow did not comment on Kyiv's statement. This morning, the Russian Defense Ministry said that fighting in Kursk had killed more than 250 Ukrainian soldiers in 24 hours.
