This morning, April 19, the Provincial People's Committee worked with ENI Vietnam Energy Company (Italy) to discuss the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Provincial People's Committee and ENI Vietnam Energy Company on creating carbon credits from natural climate solutions and some other related contents. At the meeting, representatives of ENI Vietnam Energy Company discussed some issues related to the development of tung tree planting areas, as well as proposed to consider the potential and natural conditions for cooperation in developing other oil crops such as castor oil and rubber seeds in Quang Tri.
In particular, focusing on finding land to grow these plants for a long term of 30 years, 50 years; aiming to build a raw material area, purchasing tung seeds and rubber seeds to use as raw materials for the bio-refinery in Italy.
In addition to adding some contents to extend the memorandum of understanding signed since April 2022, ENI Vietnam Energy Company also presented an overview of the possibility of purchasing carbon credits and supporting the implementation of basic studies for the Household Cookstove Project in Huong Hoa and Dakrong districts in the coming time.

Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong requested ENI Vietnam Energy Company to coordinate with the Provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Center, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to review the contents of the Memorandum of Understanding for the period 2022 - 2024, thereby building the Memorandum of Understanding for the period 2024 - 2026 in a more specific, practical and effective direction.
At the same time, participate in the carbon credit transfer agreement, directly contributing to reducing CO2 emissions in Quang Tri province; supporting the livelihood development activities of people living near forests to promote sustainable forest use and increase forest carbon stocks.
Regarding the orientation of production development associated with consumption and processing of tung oil, the Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested enterprises to support resources to build models and perfect techniques for intensive cultivation of tung trees, improve the ability to supply seeds of tung forests; invest in production lines and factories to process tung oil and products from tung oil...
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Van Hung requested ENI Vietnam Energy Company to complete the draft Memorandum of Understanding on creating carbon credits from natural climate solutions for the period 2024-2026 and send it to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and implementation of the next steps.
The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development shall continue to act as the focal agency, coordinate and support ENI Vietnam Energy Company in surveying, researching, and developing a plan to implement the contents of the memorandum in the new period.
With the active and responsible cooperation of the province, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expects that ENI Vietnam Energy Company will implement activities in a practical and specific manner, in line with the province's development strategy in the coming time.
