When will U.17 Vietnam play Yemen? Why is there still a high risk of elimination even if there is a draw?

In the first half, U.17 Vietnam still showed a methodical and well-organized style of play. Coach Cristian Roland's students circulated the ball evenly between the center and the two wings, attacking quite diversely. However, the young men also encountered many difficulties. When performing "slapping" coordination exercises against the opponent, U.17 Vietnam was not successful because the Myanmar team defended densely; and when the ball was deployed to the two wings, the crosses and passes lacked sharpness. In the rare times when the two full-backs, Tan Dung and Duc Duy, crossed the ball accurately, the ball did not have a favorable landing point for Viet Long or Hoang Khanh to score. Because of that, the players had to shoot from a distance quite a lot, and clearly this was not an effective solution.

U.17 Vietnam won the right to self-determination after victory over U.17 Myanmar

If they cannot defeat U.17 Myanmar, U.17 Vietnam will no longer have the right to decide for themselves. This seems to affect the psychology of the young players. In the second half, the haste was clearly shown in the handling of situations by U.17 Vietnam. On the sidelines, a member of the coaching staff had to remind: "Be more careful!". After about 15 minutes in the first half of the second half, U.17 Vietnam played ineffectively, coach Roland had to put Gia Bao (HAGL's attacking midfielder) on the field to replace Hoang Khanh.

At this point, U.17 Vietnam gradually changed their attack by shifting the ball to the right wing more and this was effective. In the 69th minute, Viet Long received the ball on the right wing, skillfully faked the ball past the opponent's defender and crossed the ball into the penalty area. Inside, Van Duong chose the right landing point to head the ball into the U.17 Myanmar net, helping the home team take the lead.

This goal has many meanings for U.17 VN. In addition to opening the victory, it also helps the players feel more comfortable and confident. The quality of the attacking combinations has gradually improved. Duc Duy's crosses from the right wing are of better quality, the passes in the middle are also neater and more on-beat. It's just a pity that the finishing is still not done in the most accurate way. It wasn't until the 89th minute, after a situation where the opponent's defense played clumsily, that U.17 VN scored the winning goal 2-0 thanks to Gia Bao's tap-in into the empty net, starting from Duy Dang's "set-up".

After two matches, U.17 Vietnam has 4 points and is second in Group I, 2 points behind U.17 Yemen. In the final round, the two top teams will face each other at 7:00 p.m. on October 27. This will be a big challenge for coach Roland and his team. Because in the first two rounds, U.17 Yemen "demonstrated" their strength with 2 wins, scoring 9 goals and conceding 3. They must beat Yemen to secure a place in the next round. If there is a draw, the risk of being eliminated is still very high because it depends on the result of the match between U.17 Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan.

Although U.17 Vietnam won, there are still many concerns. First, the quality of passing and decisive shots is not good. Next, coach Roland's students were subjective, lacked concentration in defense in the second half and allowed U.17 Myanmar to counterattack. Fortunately, this is a weak opponent so we have not been punished. If this continues in the match against Yemen, U.17 Vietnam may have to pay the price. However, a positive signal has come: after scoring 2 goals against U.17 Myanmar, the U.17 Vietnam players became more confident, relieving a lot of pressure.
