Not long after winning the VTV Cup international championship in Lao Cai, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team went to Thailand to compete in the Asian championship.
Vietnam women's team is in very good form.
At the tournament, the Vietnamese women's team is in Group C with Uzbekistan, Chinese Taipei and South Korea. The teams will compete in a round robin, then the top two teams in Group C will continue to the second round with the top two teams in Group A (this group includes Thailand, Australia, Mongolia) to compete for two tickets to the semi-finals. This is the final tournament in the preparation process for the 19th Asiad of the Vietnamese women's team.
The challenge came to coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team in the opening match when their opponent was the strongest team in the group, Korea. Being rated higher, it was no surprise that the Korean girls entered the match excitedly, they played effectively in both attack and defense to take the lead 25/22 and 25/19.
The Vietnamese girls created an earthquake on the first day of competition of the tournament.
It seemed that the Vietnamese women's team would not be able to stand up after losing two sets in a row, but with timely adjustments from coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet, combined with the effective performance of key players such as Thanh Thuy, Lam Oanh and Kieu Trinh, the Vietnamese women's team won 25/23 in set 3 before winning 25/17 in set 4. In the deciding set, the brilliance of main attacker Thanh Thuy, combined with taking advantage of good opportunities at decisive moments, the Vietnamese girls won 15/13.
Coming back from 3-2 down (22/25, 19/25, 25/23, 25/17, 15/13) against Korea, the Vietnamese women's team created the biggest surprise on the first day of the tournament. This victory opens up the opportunity for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team to continue as in the remaining two matches, the Vietnamese women's team will only meet weaker opponents, Uzbekistan (August 31) and Chinese Taipei (September 1).
