Along with the effective activities in recent times, the activities of the Capital’s youth are increasingly creative with new models. Notably, the volunteer activities to participate in building urban civilization have been widely and effectively implemented by the Youth Union at all levels.
According to Nguyen Duc Tien, Standing Deputy Secretary of the City Youth Union, Chairman of the Vietnam Youth Union of Hanoi, the youth of the capital have actively implemented thousands of projects and volunteer work. Models of mural paintings, blooming electric poles, youth flower gardens, etc. continue to be replicated. Activities to clean up the locality, participate in removing advertisements on walls, tree stumps, electric poles; propagate and mobilize people to throw garbage in the right place, classify waste, etc. have attracted a large number of union members and young people to participate.
On March 17, the Hanoi Youth Union launched the Peak Volunteer Day to join hands in building new rural areas and Green Sunday at the provincial level in Phu Dong commune, Gia Lam district. This is an activity in response to the Peak Volunteer Day to join hands in building new rural areas and the first National Green Sunday in 2024, celebrating the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
On this occasion, 100% of the Youth Union units in the city actively responded and implemented volunteer activities in localities and units such as: Planting, caring for and protecting trees; promoting waste classification at source; launching a campaign to limit plastic waste; youth volunteer teams cleaning up the environment; distributing plastic and recycled bags to people; organizing the program "Exchanging trash for gifts"; building a model road "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Civilized - Safe", "Blooming electric poles"...
“Green Sunday” has contributed to raising awareness of environmental protection for union members, young people in particular and people in the city in general. At the same time, this is also an opportunity to unite and gather young people to participate in Union, Association and Team activities, joining hands to keep the capital bright, green, clean and beautiful.
In addition, there is the "5 yes 3 no" self-managed youth route according to urban civilized standards implemented by the Youth Union of Tien Duong commune, Dong Anh district, inaugurated on March 3. The "5 yes" route includes: Having a youth volunteer team, having trees, having lighting, having surveillance cameras, having urban civilized awareness; "3 no" includes: Not violating traffic safety, not violating urban civilized order - public order, not causing environmental pollution.
Or in Dong Da district, promoting the pioneering and volunteering role of union members and youth, Dong Da District Union has implemented 35 mural projects in alleys, streets, and school gates, sending out messages about environmental protection, child protection, building civilized urban areas, traffic safety, and disease prevention...
In particular, the creativity of the capital's youth in applying information technology to encode information on streets has received attention and support from local authorities and people. That is the mark of the Bac Tu Liem District Youth Union when implementing the encoding of information on 10 streets named after famous people in the district. Right below the street name sign is a sub-sign with information and a QR code. The information is displayed in both Vietnamese and English, making it convenient for people and tourists to look up information about streets and famous people of Vietnam.
In recent times, volunteer activities to build the capital have become regular activities of union members, youth and children in Hanoi. Secretary of the Hanoi Youth Union Chu Hong Minh said that with the theme "Youth of the capital volunteering for community life", it is expected that in Youth Month 2024, at least 10,000 union members and youth of the capital will participate in volunteer activities for community life and social security activities. The capital's youth will carry out 600 youth projects, 1,381 youth projects, at least 5 "Friendly waste sorting houses" projects, at least 5 "Children's bookcases in apartment buildings" projects. The capital's youth will continue to demonstrate their spirit of dedication, not afraid of hardships, volunteering in difficult and new tasks, building urban civilization".
Statistics show that from 2023 to present, the capital's youth have newly built and maintained more than 400 civilized street projects with the criteria of "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Civilized - Safe"; 98 "Youth routes participating in supporting self-management of security and order"; digitized more than 150 relics and red addresses; decorated and beautified nearly 1,000 electrical cabinets; renovated and built hundreds of new friendly toilets and children's playgrounds in schools and residential areas...
