The program aims to honor businesses that have made meaningful contributions to the sustainable development of the community through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs. Businesses share their inspiring CSR stories for the awarding council to evaluate and award. With the story of "a 20-year journey of nurturing and nurturing green generations", VAS is the only educational institution among the 40 selected businesses.
Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) received the title "Enterprise for the community" for the 4th time - Saigon Times CSR Program
Established in 2004, VAS is a school that contributes to building and "standardizing" the bilingual international education program in Vietnam. For nearly 20 years of continuous development and innovation, VAS has been steadfast in its vision of becoming "a school of generations of excellent global citizens" and its mission of creating sustainable values, towards a happy community and a better society.
How VAS incubates and nurtures social responsibility for future generations
In addition to community support programs or environmental protection projects, VAS's CSR story inspires how VAS has fostered love and a sense of community responsibility in generations of students for nearly two decades.
At VAS, teaching and learning are not limited to the classroom. Not only do they learn through many extracurricular activities, experiential trips, academic and business projects, VAS students also take charge of many meaningful community projects.
Through this, children have the opportunity to turn creative ideas into meaningful contributions, while learning how to give and spread love, and feeling valuable life lessons to grow up more firmly.
That is how VAS sows and develops the 'green generation' - a generation of excellent global citizens who carry love and responsibility for the community.
"Green Generation" - A generation of global citizens who grew up at VAS and carry within them love and responsibility for the community.
One of the outstanding community programs is "VAS Community" (VASers for the community). In it, student groups will propose ideas and plans to implement their group's community projects.
The three best projects will be selected for funding and implementation during the school year, while the jury will also award consolation prizes to five other projects. This money will be used by students to organize fundraising activities, thereby obtaining a larger amount to implement the project.
Although the projects are student-led, they are organized in a systematic, creative and sustainable manner. Many projects that have won the "VAS Community" award have been maintained for many years with increasing funds. The old generation will graduate and new students will continue to maintain and develop them.
A typical example is the project "Lighting up knowledge - ASER" of VAS Hoang Van Thu teachers and students, which is preparing to enter its 6th season. This is a project to donate solar-powered desk lamps, which VAS students raised funds for and assembled for students in difficult circumstances, in places without electricity.
Many members of the ASER project team were moved to share after the trips to visit and give gifts to children in remote areas: "Seeing the happiness of the people we love and the smiles of the children, that is probably the most valuable reward the members received after months of hard work and preparation. We understand that this is what we should do, so we have worked together to fulfill our responsibility to the community."
The project team "Lighting up knowledge - ASER" visited and presented homemade solar lamps and gifts to students in remote areas.
In addition, VAS students also raise funds through many creative and meaningful activities such as: growing clean vegetables, making cakes to sell to parents at school and selling banh chung on Tet holiday...

The children also created paintings of Vietnam maps from natural materials to auction online, organized music nights, exchanged and collected books, toys, school supplies, and uniforms for charity work; donated meals and participated in serving at charity restaurants; cleaned public areas; planted trees in recycled plastic pots to donate; made clips and leaflets about environmental protection to spread the green message...
VAS students create Vietnam map paintings to auction for charity
"A touching story is that after the online auction of a painting of Vietnam's map for 30 million VND, two parents donated an additional 30 million VND to the project team because they saw that the painting was very elaborate, demonstrating the perseverance and kindness of the children," shared Ms. Do Thi Tuoi, instructor of the "Gardener" project team.
In addition, VAS has also maintained many inspirational activities on sustainable development over the past decades such as the VAS Talks sharing series; the 3Rs Projects environmental project; the tree planting fundraising running competition - VAS Green Day Run...
VAS is known as the "school of Cambridge valedictorians" with impressive achievements of students in the annual Cambridge international exams.
