This year, the number of students with talent for football is somewhat limited, so only 3-4 new players can be recruited. Therefore, the team focuses mostly on experienced 5-a-side players to prepare for the qualifying round of the Southwest region - the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup tournament.
Coach Tran Trung Du asked the players to spend more time practicing tactics in the midfield area.
After Tet, the team rented a new 11-a-side field to practice, with an intensity of 3 sessions/week. Coach Tran Trung Du said that with the competition approaching, improper practice would overload the players' bodies and not ensure their physical strength. The team mainly practiced techniques and tactics. The coaching staff had a thorough meeting and decided to "experiment" with the playing style of the small field (5 players) to the large field (11 players).
The team aims to reach the play-off round of the Southwest region qualifiers.
Accordingly, from the 5-a-side field to the 11-a-side field, the players made a lot of effort to get used to the pace of the match and make long passes, stretching the two wings. As a rookie in the tournament, Tay Do University always put themselves in the "underdog" position, using a defensive style of play first - counterattack later. "In attack, we will exploit the central area. The coaching staff sees the potential, wants to develop the agility, flexibility, and dexterity of the players who often play on the 5-a-side field. That is the key tactic that Tay Do University brings to this tournament", coach Tran Trung Du revealed.

Coach Tran Trung Du assessed that Tra Vinh University team has the element of surprise, the more they play, the better they get and the more good players they have. The team has carefully studied the good athletes, coming up with suitable coaching tactics so that these players will cause less "mutations". Meanwhile, the match with FPT University Can Tho is likely to be a balanced game, with both teams having equal chances of winning.

According to the schedule of the qualifying round of the Southwest region - the 2nd Vietnam Youth Student Football Tournament - 2024 THACO Cup, Tay Do University will have its opening match against Tra Vinh University at 4:00 p.m. on March 3 and the next match against FPT University Can Tho at 2:00 p.m. on March 5. All matches will take place at Can Tho Stadium.
