Canh orange trees grown on terraced fields in Na Ri district, Bac Kan province not only grow and develop well but also provide high income, helping many farmers of Na Ri district escape poverty and become rich.
Growing citrus trees is a promising direction in Na Ri district of Bac Kan province. At the Canh orange garden of Mr. Nong Van Do's household in Na Khun village, Cuong Loi commune, when we arrived, Mr. Do's orange garden was full of fruit.

The clusters of oranges hanging heavy on the branches make visitors from afar who come to Mr. Do’s orange garden admire. Among them are many traders from other provinces, who have traveled to many places and seen countless gardens, but they are also surprised and amazed.
Although the Canh orange garden of Mr. Do's family is not large, only about 2000m2, the orange trees here are 6 years old and are in the stage of producing the most fruit of the tree's age.
Thanks to that, since the orange garden started bearing fruit, Mr. Do's orange garden has also yielded 3 to 4 tons of fruit per crop. Each kilogram of Canh oranges currently has a selling price ranging from 30,000 to 40,000 VND, helping his family earn more income. Especially keeping the price during Tet.

According to Mr. Do, growing Canh oranges on his family's rice fields initially encountered certain difficulties such as waterlogging, stem borers, leaf curl disease, etc. However, during the implementation process, he received training and technical support from specialized agencies, so he was able to overcome most of the common diseases on orange trees.
"My family's Canh orange acreage is not large, so we mainly do it ourselves, without having to pay for labor. In addition, the soil and climate in Na Ri are quite suitable for citrus trees, so the growth of Canh orange trees in the garden is quite good.
We are also expanding by 2000m2, this area is newly planted so it has not been harvested yet. If all goes well, the new Canh orange area will be harvested in about 2 years. Planting Canh orange trees on rice fields is generally more economical than other crops such as corn, rice, beans, peanuts...", Mr. Do added.

Not only the family of farmer member Nong Van Do grows Canh orange trees on rice fields, currently in Na Ri district there are also many households growing citrus trees and all have stable income.
Talking to us, Mr. Vu Viet Bac, Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Na Ri district, said that for citrus trees, especially Canh orange trees, currently most communes have farmer members implementing them and bringing high economic efficiency.
Farmers have learned to apply information technology and use social networks to introduce their products. Therefore, traders from provinces such as Thai Nguyen, Hai Duong, and Hanoi have come to their gardens to buy their products.

"As for the Canh orange garden of the good producer and business household Nong Van Do, although not large, thanks to the application of science and technology and good care, it has achieved high productivity.
As for the farmer households growing citrus trees in the district, many households have accessed and effectively used the capital of the Farmers' Support Fund, typically members and farmers in Kim Lu and Van Vu communes of the district," shared the Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Na Ri district (Bac Kan province).
Mr. Bac said that in Cuong Loi commune, farmers mainly learn from each other to develop the model. On that basis, every year, the District Farmers' Association coordinates with authorities at all levels to organize scientific and technical training courses for people.
According to Mr. Bac, many farmer members have learned and successfully grafted branches in their family citrus gardens.
Seeing the economic efficiency of the Canh orange growing model, many farmer members have boldly converted their crops from other citrus trees such as grapefruit and local tangerine trees to Canh orange; thanks to that, many households have escaped poverty, become rich, and actively contributed to the new rural construction movement in the locality.
