According to information from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, last week, Ho Chi Minh City discovered 6 more cases of monkeypox, bringing the total number of monkeypox cases in the area to 19. Of these, 2 were imported cases, 1 was exported via Taiwan. Currently, 12 monkeypox cases are being isolated and treated, with stable health.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, monkeypox has an incubation period of 6 to 13 days and can heal on its own within 2-3 weeks. Symptoms may vary depending on the stage of the disease, but are similar to smallpox.

Specifically, people with the disease often have symptoms: fever, headache, muscle pain, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills, fatigue, rash that can look like blisters appearing on the face, inside the mouth or in other parts of the body such as hands, feet, chest, genitals or anus.

To proactively prevent monkeypox, the Ministry of Health recommends that people proactively take preventive measures, such as: covering the mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, preferably with a cloth or handkerchief or disposable tissue or sleeve to reduce the spread of respiratory secretions; washing hands with soap and clean water or antiseptic solution immediately after coughing or sneezing.

Do not spit in public. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer.

People with symptoms of acute rash of unknown cause accompanied by one or more suspicious symptoms should proactively contact a medical facility for timely monitoring and consultation. At the same time, they should proactively self-isolate and avoid sexual intercourse.

Avoid close contact with people with monkeypox, avoid direct contact with wounds, body fluids, droplets and objects and utensils contaminated with the pathogen. In case there is someone in your home or workplace who is infected or suspected of being infected, you need to notify the health authority for timely advice and treatment, do not self-treat.
