According to RIA news agency, speaking to reporters on Air Force One, President Trump said that Russia wants to end the conflict in Ukraine as well as the United States.
“I think they have a little bit of an advantage, because, as you know, they control a lot of territory,” he said.
In addition, the leader urged Ukraine to hold elections and find out how all the money Washington provided to Kiev was spent.
According to the White House owner, the US has spent "200 billion USD more on Ukraine than Europe, while Europe's money is secured by frozen Russian assets", and the US has not gotten anything back.
For his part, on February 19, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the US had helped Russia escape years of isolation when mentioning the direct negotiations between Moscow and Washington that had just taken place in Saudi Arabia, and affirmed that Kiev was still "ready for anything".
The Trump administration has increasingly deepened the rift between the United States and Ukraine, a country that relies heavily on military aid from Washington and its European allies to deal with the three-year conflict, with the 47th White House boss repeatedly criticizing the government in Kiev.
