On the afternoon of February 18, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Comrade Tran Cuong, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, on the occasion of Comrade Tran Cuong's visit to Vietnam and participation in the Spring Meeting 2025 between the Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committees of the localities of Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang, Ha Giang of Vietnam and Guangxi, China.
General Secretary To Lam welcomed and highly appreciated Comrade Tran Cuong's first visit and work in Vietnam right after assuming the position of Secretary of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee; congratulated China on its great and comprehensive achievements since the 20th Congress; and affirmed that Vietnam consistently considers developing relations with China an objective requirement, a strategic choice, and a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification.
The General Secretary believes that under the strategic directions and guidance of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with General Secretary and President Xi Jinping as the core, the Party Committee, government and people of the Guangxi Autonomous Region under the leadership of Secretary Chen Gang will continue to achieve even greater achievements, building Guangxi to become increasingly prosperous and developed, and the people's lives to become increasingly prosperous and happy.
Emphasizing that Guangxi is a locality with deep ties to Vietnam, the General Secretary highly appreciated Guangxi's pioneering role and position in promoting friendship and practical cooperation with Vietnam, welcomed Guangxi and Vietnamese localities to effectively implement the Spring Meeting Program between Provincial/Regional Party Secretaries, and approved the creative idea of both sides to invite Hai Phong city to participate in this annual meeting mechanism.
Regarding cooperation in the coming time, the General Secretary suggested that Guangxi and Vietnamese localities closely follow the high-level common perception, enhance friendly exchanges and mutual understanding; effectively implement mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, especially in economics - trade, infrastructure, science and technology, innovation, artificial intelligence (AI) ... accelerate the pilot construction of smart border gate models to facilitate customs clearance of goods, especially Vietnamese agricultural products into the Chinese market, and cooperate in good management of land borders.
The General Secretary also hoped that localities on both sides would coordinate well to implement the "Vietnam - China Humanitarian Exchange Year 2025" on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and enhance friendly exchange activities between people of all walks of life.
Secretary of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee Tran Cuong expressed his honor to come and listen to General Secretary To Lam's important opinions on Vietnam-China relations as well as exchanges and cooperation between Guangxi and localities of Vietnam.
Emphasizing that Vietnam is a close and intimate neighbor and a leading important partner of Guangxi, Secretary Tran Cuong affirmed that the Party Committee, the government of the Guangxi Autonomous Region and himself especially attach importance to the friendly and cooperative relations with Vietnamese localities; will continue to take the lead in thoroughly grasping and implementing comprehensively and effectively the common perception of the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries on further deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and building the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of strategic significance.
Secretary Tran Cuong respectfully thanked and accepted General Secretary To Lam's guiding opinions, and hoped that the two sides would further promote a number of cooperation focuses such as enhancing delegation exchanges at all levels, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, education and training, science and technology, including the development of artificial intelligence (AI), big data, accelerating the construction of pilot smart border gates, promoting road and railway traffic connections, facilitating trade and travel between China and Vietnam as well as ASEAN countries, promoting people-to-people exchanges, enhancing friendly exchanges and mutual understanding between the people of Guangxi and Vietnamese localities./.
