On October 7, the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications coordinated with the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the State Bank of Vietnam, Hanoi Branch, and the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade to organize an event to launch cashless payments in Hoan Kiem District.

Speaking at the event, Director of Hanoi Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Viet Hung said that in recent times, cashless payment activities in the city have been safe, effective and smooth.

Non-cash payment indicators have grown strongly. The rate of non-cash payments in electronic transactions is estimated at 45%; the rate of non-cash payments for water bills is 97%; the rate of non-cash payments for electricity bills is 99.9%...

According to Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Ha Minh Hai, in response to National Digital Transformation Day on October 10, Hanoi has chosen the theme of the National Digital Transformation Day in the locality in 2023 as "Exploiting digital data to create value".

The event to launch cashless payments in Hoan Kiem District is one of the activities aimed at people and businesses, no matter where they are, being able to quickly and easily access public services, digital applications, digital platforms, being provided with full information, and being served promptly. Launching cashless payments is also one of the activities in a series of activities and events in the process of building a smart city.

According to Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long, the network of commercial centers, bustling business streets, large wholesale markets and the system of large financial centers and banks of the State and foreign countries have created great potential for Hoan Kiem District in terms of economic, financial, commercial, tourism and service development.

"Being selected as the core to promote cashless payments is a great advantage for Hoan Kiem. In the coming time, the district will deploy more creative and effective solutions to contribute to the overall development of the city," Mr. Long emphasized.

Delegates visit the exhibition booth, introducing products and services of banks providing cashless payment services.

The event to launch cashless payments in Hoan Kiem District will take place from October 7 to 8, with the participation of 10 banks and businesses providing cashless payment services displaying products and services. At this event, banks and businesses providing cashless payment services will widely introduce cashless payment products and services to people and organizations.

After this event, the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District will continue to widely promote and encourage people, organizations and individuals doing business in the district, especially on walking streets, to actively respond and participate in cashless payment activities. Strive to achieve 100% of organizations and individuals doing business on walking streets in Hoan Kiem District by December to make cashless payments.
