Pakistan's arynews.tv website reported on April 13 that the Swedish Embassy in Pakistan has officially announced the closure of this diplomatic mission for an indefinite period of time due to the "current situation" in the host country.
Earlier, the Swedish Embassy in Pakistan announced that the Embassy's Immigration Department was unable to process requests of any kind. The announcement stressed that the decision to temporarily close the Embassy in Pakistan would cause inconvenience. However, the top priority is to ensure the safety of Swedish diplomatic staff in the context of the current security situation in Islamabad.
Responding to this move, the Pakistani Embassy in Stockholm hoped that Pakistani students applying to Swedish universities could get their visas soon as the new academic session will start in August while the visa processing takes four to six months.
