Updating information on the electricity supply situation, on June 27, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that on June 26, water flow to hydroelectric reservoirs in the North continued to improve.
The water level is far from the dead water level, Lai Chau Hydropower Plant was mobilized to generate electricity again from June 25.
Currently, the water level of Son La , Lai Chau, Tuyen Quang, and Ban Chat hydroelectric reservoirs has accumulated to a level 5-9 m above the dead water level. Starting from June 25, Lai Chau and Tuyen Quang hydroelectric plants have been mobilized to generate electricity again.
On June 26, electricity output in the North reached 346.9 million kWh, an increase of 31.8 million kWh compared to June 25. Of which, electricity output mobilized from hydropower reached 91.3 million kWh, an increase of 5.3 million kWh compared to June 25; electricity output mobilized from coal-fired thermal power reached 239.2 million kWh, an increase of 13.1 million kWh compared to June 25.
As of June 26, there are no coal-fired thermal power plants in the Northern region that have reduced capacity. The total capacity of units that are having long-term problems and cannot be mobilized is 2,100 MW.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the North is in the early flood period. It is forecasted that in the coming days, the water flow to hydroelectric reservoirs will continue to increase and can ensure electricity supply with an average calculated load of about 421 - 425 million kWh/day.
However, in the extreme case of no flood, hydropower plants in the North can still use the current water volume in the reservoirs combined with the natural water flow to the reservoirs to meet load demand.
Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) said that as of June 23, 70/85 transitional renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 3,851.86 MW had submitted documents to the Power Trading Company to negotiate electricity prices and power purchase contracts.
Of which, 11 factories and parts of factories with a total capacity of 545.72 MW have completed the procedures to be recognized as eligible for commercial operation (COD), and are allowed to generate commercial electricity to the grid.
The cumulative electricity output of transitional renewable energy projects from the time of commercial operation to June 22 reached about 59.47 million kWh. The average daily electricity output is about 3.2 million kWh, accounting for about 0.4% of the total mobilized electricity output.
To ensure electricity supply for the northern provinces during this year's dry season, the Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to require power plants to deploy many specific solutions on saving electricity; ensuring coal and gas supply for power generation; focusing on overcoming power source problems...
Since June 14, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has regularly organized working delegations to work directly at a number of thermal power plants in the North to urge and supervise the implementation of troubleshooting and ensure raw materials for electricity production.
