Appreciating Walmart's scale of operations in the world, the Deputy Prime Minister said that with its strengths in labor resources, infrastructure, and socio-political stability, Vietnam has become one of the largest consumer goods manufacturing and exporting countries in the world.
Vietnamese manufacturers and suppliers have the potential and capacity to access the entire production process (raw materials, design, production, marketing, etc.). This is an important foundation for Vietnamese enterprises, together with leading retail corporations such as Walmart, to form a synchronous, comprehensive, holistic, sustainable "ecosystem" with a long-term commitment to sharing benefits from the consumer goods supply chain.
"We need to ensure clear and long-term cooperation among parties in the ecosystem; clearly define the responsibilities and tasks of the Government, ministries, branches, localities, enterprises, etc.," the Deputy Prime Minister said, affirming that by participating in 17 free trade agreements, Vietnam fully complies with its commitments on labor, environment, etc.
Discussing further about the strong development of e-commerce in Vietnam, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Government is continuing to direct ministries and branches to develop regulations and standards to ensure the safety and interests of consumers when participating in transactions in this market.
