Traditional libraries in the digital age

1. Many students from the Provincial Sports Gifted High School (Bien Hoa city) come to read books at the Provincial Library.

Every week, from Tuesday morning to Saturday afternoon, the Provincial Library opens its doors to welcome people to read books, newspapers, magazines, etc. and borrow books to take home. There are reading rooms for books and newspapers suitable for all ages and needs of people.

2. Inside the Provincial Library, there are many reading spaces so that both parents and children can comfortably read books together.

Notably, the Children’s Room is designed with an open space and equipped with cushioned chairs (bean chairs) so that both parents and children can sit together and read books. Every Saturday, the Children’s Room welcomes many families who bring their children to visit, read and borrow children’s books.

3. To be able to borrow books from the Provincial Library to take home, students or adults must have a library card.

In addition, the Provincial Library also has a collection of books and reference materials on geography, history, and culture of Dong Nai province and neighboring localities. This is a valuable source of comprehensive materials, meeting the reference and research needs of students and postgraduates.

4. Staff at the Provincial Library record the time and code numbers of books borrowed by readers.

Currently, the Provincial Library has more than 117 thousand books. To manage books scientifically and thoroughly, the Provincial Library staff will handle basic steps such as: classifying by content, author, genre, size, row, shelf... (all have their own codes). Through this code system, the librarian will know the location of the book and the time it was borrowed.

5. On the first page of the books, there will be many codes displayed according to: genre, size, series, shelf... for librarians to easily manage, arrange, and search.

In addition to serving people who come to read books directly, the Provincial Library has digitized 257 books so that readers can read at home. People can access the website: https://tailieuso.thuviendongnai.gov.vn/ to read digitized documents and books.

6. Inside the Provincial Library's warehouses are many types of research books and reference materials and are continuously cleaned weekly.

7. Upon receipt, books will be coded and carefully wrapped by the Provincial Library staff before being brought to the reading rooms to serve the people.

8. Besides books, newspapers and magazines, the Provincial Library also stores many images for propaganda and display on major holidays and anniversaries of the year.
